I was responsible for the outputs associated with the Scottish Household Survey. I was also responsible for project managing the production of the annual report, writing the methodology and fieldwork outcomes report and disclosure controlling and releasing the survey microdata to the UK Data Service. Furthermore, I was responsible for producing ad hoc requests for aggregated survey data, survey microdata not available from the UK Data Service and samples from respondents who have agreed to be recontacted for follow-up surveys. The survey covered twelve distinct topics and I needed to work closely with analysts for each topic and the contractor responsible for the fieldwork.The role required me to be very proficient with SAS and SPSS.

Producing monthly/quarterly statistics on devolved taxes. Quality assurance of data and reconciliation of tax and finance systems.Responding to data requests from users, e.g. Office for Budget Responsibility, Scottish Fiscal Commission, Scottish Government.Writing SAS code to extract data to assist with tax operations, e.g. identifying transactions which may be due penalties.

Office of the Chief Economic Adviser, Trade StatisticsProduced the annual publication Export Statistics Scotland (ESS). Sampling, data collection and quality assurance of the Global Connections Survey. Responded to ad hoc requests from users. Provided briefing to ministers on the quarterly HMRC Regional Trade Statistics publication. Developed the methods and production systems used to produce ESS.

Population & Migration StatisticsProduced the mid-year population estimates. Monthly, quarterly and six month migration processing. Developed the sources and systems used to produce migration estimates. Provided briefing to ministers on quarterly ONS Long-Term International Migration estimates and DWP data on National Insurance number allocations. Secretary for user group meetings.

Census DivisionQuality assured demographic releases (e.g. population estimates by age, sex and various levels of geography down to data zone) from 2011 Census. Investigated and resolved data quality issues with variables for later releases. Developed methods to impute partial postcodes provided in address one year ago and transport to work questions.

Call centre operator. Handled queries from new customers, advising on products, delivery time scales and arranging the installation of equipment. Provided technical assistance to customers and arranged engineer visits.
