Experienced NHS Chief Information Office with 30+ years experience of Digital leadership and innovation. EHI Live Awards CIO of the Year 2017. CIO 100 2021. Currently delivering digital strategic leadership across the NHS, Local Authority, VCSE and other partners delivering Mental Health, Learning Disability and Autism services across the North East and Cumbria.Previously CIO at Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS FT where I had the privilege of leading and developing teams of talented Digital staff, implementing one of the earliest and largest Mental Health EPRs in England and maintaining a high availability operational service 24/7. Delighted when CNTW achieved HIMSS EMRAM level 5 in 2021 and was awarded Global Digital Exemplar accreditation in 2022. The Trust was named HSJ Provider Trust of the Year 2017 and the judges praised the organisation's clear Digital strategy. I have worked at a national and regional level to influence strategy and policy and I am an elected co-vice chair of the NHS CIO network advisory board. I have experience of serveral NHS trust mergers and rapidly increasing and levelling up digital maturity of organisations post merger. I originally intended to work in the NHS for a year or two, but was hooked within weeks and stayed for three decades...and counting. I've worked with some incredible people and learned so much along the way and am proud to have worked in the best organisation in the world for so long!
