Single-member LLC to handle part-time work with clinical testing laboratories• Serve as Laboratory Director, Clinical Consultant and/or Technical Supervisor (currently serving as Laboratory Director for five high-complexity CLIA testing laboratories)• Provide technical advice on methods development and/or validation• Expert knowledge of LC-MS/MS methods in clinical testing laboratories; extensive experience working with small molecules and peptides in the clinical laboratory

• Manage the activities of the newborn screening metabolic testing laboratory (~150,000 samples per year)• Secure new sources of funding; manage program budgets; assign duties to unit supervisors and staff; approve schedules and leave; make recommendations to appointing authority for hiring, promotions, transfers and disciplinary actions• Develop policy for approval by departmental boards and advisory committees• Approve SOP’s and revisions; identify and establish new protocols• Provide expert scientific consultation to members of the department or other units of state and local government, physicians, hospitals, public health and health care providers• Take the lead on execution and management of all contracts with medical specialists and sub-specialists in the linkage to care for newborns with abnormal findings following screening for metabolic disorders and other testing performed at the laboratory • Member of APHL's Newborn Screening and Genetics in Public Health Committee• Served as CLIA Laboratory Director and Clinical Consultant for CDPHE Laboratory Services Division (>800,000 tests per year) [April 1, 2017-June 17, 2018]

• Responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory; ensure the hiring of competent and qualified personnel; ensure the laboratory develops and uses a quality system approach to laboratory testing that provides accurate and reliable patient results; prepare laboratory for biennial inspection • Estimate costs of tests; help prepare quotes for new clients and identify new business opportunities• Review monthly reports and logs, e.g. temperature and humidity logs, QC logs, monthly QA report• Prepare and submit monthly sample list to accounting department for subsequent generation of invoices • Review and sign all validation studies; manage electronic communication with accreditation agency (COLA); prepare, review and evaluate all reports related to proficiency testing program (CAP)• Supervise two direct reports (Ph.D.-level scientists); conduct yearly performance reviews• Write custom software, e.g. custom reporting software, cost modeling software, payroll bridge• Advise new employees on safety issues related to Hyperion’s laboratory activities

• Responsible for day-to-day supervision of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting test results; ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained• Conduct validation studies for laboratory developed (home-brew) clinical tests; ensure that validation studies and accompanying documentation fulfill the requirements of CLIA• Interact with customers to determine if needs are being met; adjust laboratory’s test menu, as needed• Supervise two direct reports (Ph.D.-level scientists)• Advise new employees on safety issues related to Hyperion’s laboratory activities

• Responsible for obtaining funding to support ongoing and new research projects; ensure currently funded projects are meeting milestones; fulfill reporting requirements for currently funded projects• Prepare manuscripts describing research projects; manage peer-review process, including communication with journal editors, as well as addressing concerns raised by external reviewers• Aid with the patent litigation process; participate in teleconferences with patent attorney & USPTO• Supervise two to four direct reports (B.S.- or M.S.-level scientists); work with staff to design experiments, review data and report results to colleagues as well as funding agencies
