Responsible for the management of Defence communications networks in support of Defence Business Operations and ADF global operations inclusive of satellite and mobile platform integration.Manage a budget of over $300m and a workforce consisting of ADF, Australian Public Service (APS), contractors and managed service providers in excess of 1000 personnel.

Lead, managed and develop the Communication System, Electronic Warfare, ICT and Cyber Security requirements for the Australian Army's Forces Command. Gained exposure to leadership, management, strategic decision making and HR practices as part of the Australian Army's Ouplacement Program.

Command, leadership, management, administration and corporate governance of up to 150 personnel responsible for the planning and operation of deployable networks in support of up to 600 people. This included the management of Communications and Information System Bearer Systems (terrestrial and celestial) that provide strategic connectivity into remote locations in order to enable the operation of deployed networks.Responsible for providing network architecture (vehicle mounted switching and transmission systems) which supported mission communications requirements for several large Australian and multi-national exercises. Responsible for the management of an AUD $100 million communications equipment account.

Reporting to the Director, this role involved leading a team of twenty five staff to ensure the delivery of strategic and tactical ICT services for the Department of Defence on a 24 hour basis. Responsibilities included extensive ICT Project management; managing the day to day operations of the Defence Network Operations Centre; and designing and implementing strategic level ICT solutions for the Australian Defence Force (ADF).Awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal for dedicated service as the Operations Manager at the Defence Network Operations Centre in the 2007 Queens Birthday Honours.

Employed as a satellite engineer / frequency manager with the United States Army. This position involved 10 months formal satellite and earth terminal training and 12 months on the job experience designing large satellite networks in the United States, Iraq and Afghanistan. Responsible for planning and engineering all theatre level satellite links in Iraq; coordinating satellite access and strategic network access requests with the United States Defence Information Systems Agency; and coordinating the provision of commercial space segment for deployed forces in the Middle East.Awarded the US Bronze Star by the President of the United States for exceptionally meritorious service as a Satellite Network Engineer while deployed on Operations in Iraq.
