Human Resources Representative
Working in support of the College of Engineering and Bowers CIS, I provide transactional and consultative assistance related to recruitment, onboarding, compensation, payroll, leave management, professional development, and employee relations. As a member of the Human Resources Service Center team, I support the full spectrum of academic and non-academic HR activity in the College of Engineering and Bowers CIS, and serve as the first point of HR contact for assigned departments/units. Handle questionable cases requiring policy interpretation, utilizing judgment to refer unusual cases to HRBP/HRD. Develop resources and tools to aid human resource management and ensure high-quality customer service. Provide administrative and project support for staff-related issues. Handle sensitive and confidential matters and information with appropriate discretion and judgment. Provide backup to HR Business Partner for transaction approval and in handling complex cases requiring policy interpretation and leave administration.Proactively partner with managers and staff to develop and implement effective HR strategies. Assist in the creation of and delivery of HR programs and priorities. Work collaboratively with colleagues to design, develop and deliver effective training programs to support human resource objectives. Create and foster a positive, engaged work environment. Implement best practices to further the efforts of the Cornell HR community.
Talent Management And Employee Experience
Provide consultative staff recruitment and talent outreach services that align with the performance and organizational goals of Cornell University. Recruiting for multiple requisitions, staffing over 10+ positions. Actively build relationships with unit managers and key stakeholders to ensure that open positions are filled efficiently, in a compliant manner, and through excellent relationship building and influencing skills. Multiple community partners established to source top talent. I seek the best, diverse talent available. This work typically involves active listening skills and exceptional communication (both oral and written) for on-boarding new positions with managers. This work also entails managing requisition data, processing appointment letters, new hire transactions, and conducting background checks in Cornell’s HRIS system (Workday). Highly engaged in full-cycle recruitment and hiring activity to support temporary and contingent workforce needs. Conduct phone and zoom interviews for temporary workforce. The first point of contact for general employee policy questions and/or workplace concerns, and partner closely with HR Consultants on delivering feedback (both positive and negative), and other important HR information to unit managers and stakeholders.
