Following an LLB Law degree from The University of Sheffield in 1984 I qualified and then practice as a Solicitor in England from 1987 to 2008. I ran my own sole practice for 8 of those years and successfully helped bring forward trainee solicitors during my professional practice years. My biggest focus became the one as a civil trial lawyer – a difficult role to maintain living outside of London. I ‘retired’ from practice to then pursue a career in I.T. turning my person to become a solid networking and infrastructure engineer and this over the last best part of 15 years. With my latest full time role in I.T. not working out according to expectations I have and since July 2023, and to date, successfully projected from home and otherwise in support of my family. Today, I continue to maintain a keen interest in legal and current affairs both at home here in the UK but also under The United States – more particularly and just now and in the US and in terms of their parallel civil and criminal process and their contrasting written Constitution and rule of law. I have otherwise found time these last number of months to further develop and structure I.T. Skillsets in terms of Security Operations Centre (SOC) which add nicely to years of experience in switching and routing as well as many other ‘gaps’ including the latest and ever changing multitude of services as delivered though Amazon’s AWS. I have otherwise looked into CI/CD pipelines referencing modern web development including the use of javascript and other web and linux scripting. In summary, I today enjoy a strong technical knowledge and overview in understanding in how I.T. networking and infrastructure works, ties in and fits together in the delivery of the modern working and business environment. Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery has perhaps been the byline for my working career witnessing the instantiation and then the growth into maturity of the digital I.T. systems which today permeate all aspects of daily life. I remain positive and optimistic and very much keen and intent upon further growth and development and whilst in the continuation of my own personal journey. I otherwise look forward to sharing this with others.
