Sr Product Line Manager - Npi - Electronics Prototyping

Slb

Houston, Texas, Us

Based at Schlumberger’s Sugar Land Electronics Center of Excellence my role as Product Line Manager of New Product Introduction (NPI) involved a combination of engineering product development and manufacturing operations management where I was responsible for product delivery of electronic printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) with primary focus on rapid prototyping production and development of initial electronics assemblies typically used in high reliability applications under extreme environments for NPD service introduction for the business. As the head of department operating with several million dollars of P&L, I typically managed 20-30 individuals directly at any given time of numerous functions including Manufacturing Engineers, Manufacturing Planners, Production Supervisors and Leads, Technicians, Assemblers, Quality Inspectors, and Material Handlers. I also directed various other functions outside of my main reporting lines funded partially by my P&L such as Supply Chain Procurement, Sourcing, Customer Service Specialists, and often other resources were utilized such as internationally located technical professionals as needed. The role involved project management responsibilities such as optimizing timelines through various aspects including but not limited to examples of capacity planning, managing healthy relationships with internal customers such as engineering project managers to identify opportunities to align and reduce risk, and externally such as engagement with key suppliers to expedite or translate mutually beneficial opportunities. The product line had numerous equipment items to manage such as SMT line equipment and Automated Test equipment and due to the nature of the product designs and associated mix there was also a great deal of hand assembly work and associated management related scope to the role.

Sr Global Sourcing Leader

Slb

Houston, Texas, Us

I worked remotely located near to a major contract electronics manufacturer based in Austin. I was the leader for the project transition for hundreds of high reliability electronics products being resourced into a new contract electronics manufacturer and the role involved managing vast supplier related activities as well as project management and associated coordination with internal project teams performing product technical validation and verifications as well as supporting business continuity by accelerating product delivery of critical assemblies. My duties heavily involved directing the manufacturer with regards to various aspects of the project such as bill of material (BOM) setup in their MRP system, arbitrating priorities, facilitating transfer of product specifications, and working directly with the team of sourcing, procurement, planning and operations professionals. My technical background also enabled me seamlessly direct and support process, manufacturing, test, and quality engineering functions at the manufacturer to setup processes or resolve problems dynamically as they arose.

Engineering Director - Electrical Distribution Systems Circuit Design

Coventry, West Midlands, Gb

I was the EDS Circuit Design & Delivery Manager for all vehicles under development at Jaguar Land Rover and responsible for managing a large team of engineers designing the Electrical Distribution System Circuits across all of the Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles which equates to approximately 30-40 projects concurrently at varying life-cycle phases and each with their individual challenges. On time delivery of the EDS Circuit Designs to a master timing plan was integral to my role to ensure vehicle model year changes got to the market on time.Vehicle model year designs would be updated to add or change features altering the complexity and options of the vehicle and updated to comply with legal requirements or for cost down initiatives. Design changes would involve typically hundreds to thousands of engineering change request items to process on a highly complex system, and as such I would plan and assign engineering resources to implement according to the scope of each project. Upon initial completion of a project, I arranged and facilitated audits with dozens of engineers to assure correct implementation of all system and component integration into the Electrical Distribution System design. Some examples of my key achievements in this role included: Completion of a critical engineering redesign project expected to take 6 months was delivered within 2 months. Implementation of quality protocol to reduce systemic design issue production line-down events saving millions of dollars year on year from recurring quality issues. Developed a new engineering life-cycle design process that significantly reduced engineering project time and recurring quality related issues which greatly improved total cost of ownership.
