Solution & Digital - Private Cloud Infrastructure Engineer

My contracted role is to design, implement and document a multisite HP SAN solution along with a new VMware 5.1 multisite cluster & complete a P2V and V2V server consolidation project.Maintain their Citrix Xenapp application farm.Day to day BAU tasks, from setting up Juniper firewalls, Wireless AP's, decommissioning AD servers for old sites and general 3rd line backlog of work that needed to be completed.

Work as a UK based team member, providing support for all aspects of server, network, storage, physical and environment infrastructure for large number datacenter estates within London and within the Belfair head office.Responsibilities:•Working with the Microsoft windows team to make sure their servers within the DEV environment were detected by MS SCCM, and Symantec End Point was protecting the servers.• Maintain up time of 99.99% of the physical environments.•Rack design and infrastructure layout.•Server racking and configuration of devices.•Trouble shooting, Dell, HP, SUN, Netapp, Cisco and Arista equipment.•Security of Betfair DC estates.•Maintaining asset and inventory of all physical kit throughout Betfair estates.•Work with key stakeholders and project managers to bring projects to production within the DC estates.Projects:•Feb 2011 – March 2012 - The Tiger project was a huge financial drive to move our UK based data centres to Ireland over an 18 month period. Being on the forefront of the project, my role was to help organise the migration process of the physical kit out from the 5 UK data centre to Ireland. Also the physical decommission of the DC infrastructure, ready to hand back the space to the DC owners.

My contracted scope was to consolidate NCT’s servers and network from multiple sites into a single data centre in Slough The migration involved:•Design & planning rack layouts with regards to power and space.•Configuration of Sonicwall firewall•Migration of Citrix XenApp•Migration of Virtual environment including Citrix Xen Server & VMware ESX-i•Migration of all Microsoft services such as AD, DNS.•Re-build public web servers for a soft-cutover.•Integrating NCT customer base with a new TDM switch provider

Working as a sole Helpdesk Technical Analyst, providing technical support for up to 200 users in 10 satellite offices throughout Europe.
