Participated in the full product life-cycle from concept to delivery and support, providing technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project. Designed, documented, coded, tested and supported new embedded software designs; defining & implementing requirements with simplicity, innovation, and maintainability in mind while balancing efficiency, budget and schedule constraints. Ensured proper documentation of technical data and design is generated for the assigned projects and tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures. Documented and performed verification and validation activities to fully qualify the final product, providing traceability as well as verification artifacts linking back to the original customer requirements. Highlights  Developed a SW tool used extensively for service and support, reducing troubleshooting time by 90%.  Achieved release of an entire family of UPS products from 500VA to 5KVA on schedule and on budget while serving as technical lead.  Designed a test fixture to simulate a complex parallelable 9KVA UPS simulating every configuration, input, output, and battery failure condition with variable load levels and load types which cut troubleshooting time by > 50%.  Saved an estimated $25k-30k in customer support hardware and power requirements by using the simulator personally designed and mentioned.

Developed real-time embedded DSP code in C with portions written in Assembly used for target detection and acquisition on the Space Visioning System for the Space Shuttle and Orbital Space Station. My area of embedded development required me to work closely with the hardware team and astronauts in a NASA approved clean room lab environment using a variety of test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and data loggers as well as host of other video simulation equipment.

Developed software in C on a UNIX platform that performed real time SS7 Telecommunication Fraud Detection as well as Network Monitoring and Settlement Reconciliation for the the International Network Usage and Tracking System that monitored all inbound and outbound Telecommunications traffic for Canada. Responsible for leading a team of 5 developers and 2 Quality Assurance testers. During my time working on this comprehensive project, I had the opportunity to evolve my responsibilities from a basic Software Developer role into that of the Technical Team Lead involved in all aspects of the software development life cycle. The development was done using C language, PL/SQL, SQL, Pro*C, Unix Scripting, Perl and PowerBuilder all interfacing with an ORACLE database. The development was performed on HP Unix servers from NT workstations.
