I am the Managing Director of R&D Certainty and have had a long career as a strategic consultant and Director working in the design, construction and advisory professions within the built environment and the commercial property industry. I have also had extensive experience within the R&D space, having been the interim CEO of a Co-operative Research Centre (CRC) bid and a board member, advisor and adjunct professor of both research institutions and CRC’s. I have spent over 20 years at Chairman, Managing Director and Director Level of both Architectural and Engineering companies including board positions with the Green Building Council of Australia and the SA Division Council of the Property Council of Australia. My specific areas of expertise include practice management, design, workplace strategy, engineering, urban governance, infrastructure, precinct planning, placemaking, value management, systems engineering, sustainability and integrated design management. I was honoured to have been nominated in the “Engineer’s Atlas” in Architectural Record as one of the 70 greatest mechanical and structural engineers of all time from around the world. I am fortunate to have been one of only 3 people nominated from Australia on that list, I was also an Adjunct Professor of Sustainability at Curtin University in WA, have worked with former Vice-President of the United States, Al Gore and have been acknowledged as one of the “founding fathers” of the green building movement in Australia. I am also the author of a book entitled "Don't Worry About the Rent: Choosing new office space to boost business performance" which is intended to demystify the language of commercial real estate and building engineering to allow a CEO, COO or decision maker for corporate real estate choices, to be informed and in-charge of negotiations for critical elements to be included in the leasing options for the company. Currently there is no resource available that succinctly articulates the advantages and disadvantages associated with the multitude of options available in the commercial office marketplace.
