TRAILS is the first organization to integrate artificial intelligence participation, technology and governance during the design, development, deployment and oversight of AI systems. I used design thinking and lean startup approaches to develop digital and hybrid professional learning programs that built senior college and university leaders’ capacity to solve complex, adaptive problems. Selected accomplishments:• Dramatically increased the quantity and quality of ACE professional learning digital experiences such as workshops, communities of practice, learning circles, and summits through a focus on social and network learning, focusing on topics including strategic finance, shared equity leadership, community engagement and democratic practices, and mental health, growing the number of leaders served from under 500 to over 14,000• Increased revenue by an average of 161% year-over-year and doubled profit margin, simultaneously growing the proportion of leaders served from historically marginalized groups to over three times their rate of national representation in senior leadership roles• With the support of the Bill and Melinda Gates and Charles Koch foundations, served as principal investigator for the Agile Administrators project, developing a self-paced, competency-based microlearning curriculum on leading human-centered innovation in higher education incorporating 245 videos and tools developed in collaboration with 73 subject matter experts, delivered through a subscription program yielding 9:1 ratio between total customer lifetime value and customer acquisition cost.

I founded and provided executive leadership for this educational technology startup, designing, developing, and marketing artificial intelligence and machine learning technology through a voice conversational interface to help elementary-school-aged students become intrinsically motivated to read.Selected accomplishments:• Achieved 32% annualized gains in reading motivation and 196% year-over-year revenue growth in 2018• Won a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and SEED Spot’s Most Promising Social Innovation Prize.

As head of NCTE’s Washington, D.C. office, I furthered its policy agenda through broad-based advocacy and research in coalition with other national educational organizations.Selected accomplishments:• Directed quantitative and qualitative research with 25 stakeholder organizations through the National Center for Literacy Education, securing a $4.6 million Innovations in Literacy grant from the US Department of Education to implement collective capacity building in rural schools in five states• As head of the Washington, DC office, won inclusion of a comprehensive literacy education program in the Every Student Succeeds Act and helped secure federal appropriation of $190 million in FY16
