Roles & Duties:Day-to-day IT (business as usual) tasks, including providing support to 50 local users.Management and support of local infrastructure (LAN/WAN, servers and desktops).Provide a longer term IT strategy for the company.Management of data and voice provision, mobile telephony including Blackberry and firewall.Budget control.Provide and maintain mechanisms to allow data transfer and effective communication between KuDOS and Astrazeneca. Support and maintenance of company Intranet site.Achievements:Updated the existing infrastructure and upgraded the NT4 environment first to Windows 2000 and then to Windows 2003.Upgrade the Exchange v5.5 environment to Exchange Server 2003. Implemented internal email and web content control using MIMESweeper appliances.Roll-out desktop environment using Windows Terminal Services and thin-client technology. Provide virtual Windows XP desktops using VMWare.Reduce physical server footprint by migrating servers to VMWare.Involved in a site relocation and co-ordinated the IT and infrastructure move, including the provision of data and voice communications and upgrade of telephony system.Successfully project managed the upgrade from Windows XP/Office 2003 to Vista and Office 2007.Perform a redesign and re-launch of the company Intranet.I am also a member of the KuDOS Joint Consultative Committee, Security committee and Business Improvement Committee.

I was responsible for servers, desktops and communications, providing support to 80 local and 30 remote users. Duties included all aspects of system and network administration, including Exchange and SQL server, ensuring that the latest virus protection was applied and latest software patches/service packs installed.Projects included planning and implementing the conversion from a Token ring network to a switched Ethernet network over three sites. Once this was completed, the existing Novell servers were migrated to NT. I was also been involved in a new building project, which involved planning the new office layouts and dealing with data cabling contractors.I also developed the company Intranet in FrontPage.

I joined an existing IT department and my duties included providing support for the Novell Netware fileserver and 65 local users with additional support to 20 remote users with access into the centralised accounts system. I managed the local token-ring based network which involved documenting the existing network and managing its expansion. I co-developed a database system based on FoxBase+ which ran in each estate agency office. This controlled the entry of vendors and purchasers and followed the sale through from initial enquiry and valuation to sale and invoicing. The system was rolled nationally and I was responsible for producing and testing upgrades.

I joined Coversure under the YTS scheme. My duties included providing insurance quotations and converting them into policies. Issued cover notes, arranged payments and dealt directly with customers and insurance company representatives.
