Darren Johnson publishes the independent newspaper Campus News; full-time teaches college Journalism and Communications courses; has run college communications offices, and is a mass media expert. He purchased an historic community paper in Greenwich, NY, called The Journal & Press, and has revitalized it, separating it in two distinct print papers (one paid-circulation and the other free), while also upping its digital presence and creating a profitable Substack for it. His magnum opus, Campus News, is a unique print newspaper that hits 37 community college campuses in the Northeast and provides an unparalleled platform for relaying college news and for advertisers who want to reach over 100,000 New York Metro area college student readers each academic term. These students apply/transfer to four-year colleges, and Campus News is a superb way to reach them.A former community newspaper journalist and New York Press Association "Writer of the Year," he has a B.A. in English and Writing, a B.A. in Pre-Law: Sociology and an M.F.A. in Writing and Literature from Southampton College and has taught extensively at the four-year and community college levels. Along with leading several large institutional rebrandings and web redesigns, he also has managed major mass media buys, from storyboard to air, with tens of thousands of spots placed on major cable TV, regional radio and network TV, the Internet, billboards, print publications and more.
