Throughout my life I have had a passion for creativity and learning - be it learning a new skill for myself or teaching others. A varied career and interests have allowed me to develop a great repertoire of skills that I can bring to any role, from coaching learners to consulting with customers or business partners to creating AutoCAD space plans for major companies. I currently work full time as a senior retail CAD planner. I assist major companies with store & space planning. I Work alongside Senior Planners, Designers & Account Managers and support with store surveying, preparation of existing and proposed drawings that suit the specific client standards and liaise directly with clients to build relationships and ensure their specifications are met. Before that I worked 7 years as a NAMM registered Artistic Memorial Stonemason. I specialised in designing bespoke memorials which I hand carved and etched. I would interpret a photograph or picture onto paper and then work alongside the customer ensuring they are happy with the image before finalising it to stone. My position was created for me within the company based on my artistic skills and qualifications. I received no formal training and taught myself etching and carving. Being able to offer an inhouse service not only saved time and money for my employer but also enabled a personal service from the company. I enjoy learning and chose to study PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) & gained a higher level 4 qualification in teacher training. The course taught many valuable transferable skills including identifying learning needs, planning for learning, engaging learners with differing characteristics, assessing learning & classroom management. I have gained experience as a classroom support volunteer and provided 1-2-1 assistance for learners as well as exam support.
