Cash Flow Kingdom focuses on the idea that Cash Flow is King. We search for companies with solid and preferably growing cash flows. Most of the time these high distributable cash flow companies pay out healthy dividends. The other thing we try to focus on is management alignment and good capital allocation. We look for high insider ownership, and solid cash flow allocation discipline.

Compile reporting and provide monthly analysis: Profitability by Product, Marketing Campaign effectiveness, Manufacturing Order variance analysis, KPI’s, Cost Accounting, Budget vs. Forecast, Board meeting slides, etc.SNC Corp - Implemented Prophix planning and reporting software for this defense contractor with 40 separate locations and 50 users. This included system design, implementation and optimization, restructuring of department org and chart of account structures to better fit government reporting needs, best practices, training and initial reporting. The project was successful and later, I was asked back to assist in completing their first annual budget utilizing the new system, and to help bring the new Assistant Controller up to speed.Symmetricom - Acted as interim controller for the new startup division of this publicly traded telecommunication equipment provider.

Supervised a team which included: a Plant Controller, a Financial Analyst / Cost Accountant, a Financial Analyst (logistics) and the Manager of Credit and Collections. Responsible for the business finance function including: cost accounting and plant operational support for three plants; annual corporate budget and long term planning; monthly financial reporting, trend and variance analysis; credit and collections; sales finance support and revenue forecasting, engineering finance support, capex, cash forecasting; opportunity NPV and ROI modeling, Ad Hoc Analysis, M&A support.

This was a very challenging turnaround story that went bankrupt 11 months after I was hired. During my short time there I successfully implemented reporting software to identify where we were making money and where we were not, identified and corrected some issues with a pre-existing and very problematic SAP ERP application, helped implement a sales deal analysis "stoplight" policy and procedure, generally put out fires and acted as a key liason between senior management in Santa Clara and the FP&A team in San Dimas. I also learned that identifying the problems and suggesting solutions is useless unless you can successfully get everyone on board.

Cyra Technology, later Leica, was a successful high technology start-up. I was hired to initiate the FP&A function and was a significant contributor to helping us grow revenue profitably at a rate averaging over 90% per year during the four and a half years I was there. I was in charge of all business finance functions-- sales support, budget, revenue forecasting and recognition, cost and cash forecasting, engineering and operations financial support, etc.--as well as credit and collections. Successes include: implementation of a captive leasing program, revenue forecasting to help attract capital, various sales analysis insights which were significant contributors to our growth, implementation of rolling 12 month and 3 year budgets, monthly management and quarterly board reporting, modeling which aided pricing and distribution decisions, M&A purchase analysis of a related product line and later sale of a small sister division, NPV, ROI and sensitivity analysis of new projects, products, and business lines; cost containment and various other Ad Hoc analysis. During this time I received various promotions and special merit awards, eventually growing to the point where two people were reporting to me. Just as importantly, I had a blast.
