About Darren Mullenix, Cfp®, Chfc®

Darren is currently Vice President for Investment Services at Church Extension Plan. Darren leads the strategy development and implementation for all investment related activity with the goal to increase investment participation, improve communication, and enhance already excellent customer service. Darren has a particular focus on pastoral retirement issues, working with ministry leadership and boards to establish and grow retirement savings. With a creative approach to the project, Darren and CEP become ministry partners with the church. The long-term relationship approach leads to great customer service and significant ministry impact. Darren regularly speaks to groups large and small about various aspects of financial planning with a focus on retirement and estate planning. Darren has co-authored two books related to pastoral retirement which are available through Amazon - Minister Retirement: Bringing Clarity to Retirement Planning and Stewarding The Future: Church Boards and Pastoral Retirement.Prior to joining Church Extension Plan, Darren was the Director of Operations for Donor Ministries at Samaritan's Purse, from 2004 to 2014. Darren's MBA in Organizational Development, and extensive experience in administration, management, finance, information systems, planned giving, donor relations, project management and strategic planning prepared him well for a wide variety of roles. Managing a budget of $2 - $2.5 million and a team of 30+, Darren drove innovation in staffing and organizational development.Darren also has international experience, serving as a consultant and interim manager in the Samaritan's Purse UK office. Darren advised on departmental re-organization, enhanced customer/donor service, staff development, and internal culture. Darren has led departments and organizations through strategic planning initiatives. Focusing on corporate or departmental growth initiatives, Darren has successfully led various size teams through planning and implementation of growth activities. Recognizing new opportunities for corporate growth, Darren created new programs including ancillary financial services for 3rd party organizations and, grassroots athletic and community fundraising events.
