Recent highlights include:• Acting as crowdfunding, design and production consultant for Ben Kelly, the designer of the iconic Haçienda nightclub in Manchester, on a photographic retrospective book entitled Haçienda Landscapes.• Conceiving and art directing There Will Be No Quiet, a hybrid autobiography and visual retrospective of Radiohead cover artist Stanley Donwood's life and career.• Art directing the catalogue for Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt, a major exhibition by the V&A Museum exploring the design and culture of videogames since the mid-2000s.• Acting as producer and crowdfunding consultant for A Profound Waste of Time, a videogame culture magazine now on its third issue, developed with design graduate Caspian Whistler and based on a zine created as part of his degree course. -

Eschewing the conventions of mass market publishing, Volume focusses on publishing projects that speak to fandoms, subcultures and niche interests, realising books via fixed-time funding campaigns and limited editions. Since its inception in 2017, Volume has raised over a million pounds in pledges and published books across varied genres including graphic design, videogames, music, and photography. -

Founded in 2012, ROM has so far released over 20 titles, unified in their focus on exhaustive research and beautiful design. So far, its books have covered subjects such as Street Fighter II, the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis console, the birth of the Japanese games industry, and the pixel typography of early arcade games. Read-Only Memory was acquired by Thames & Hudson in 2022 with a view to expanding its own videogame book publishing activities. I continue to act as ROM’s editor-in-chief, seeking to grow its publishing activities into all areas of the videogame medium. -

My role comprised art direction and design for book jackets across the entire publishing list.While at Faber & Faber I oversaw design of the Faber Finds print-on-demand project, to create a bespoke piece of software that would generate unique, print-ready covers for the imprint’s ever-growing list of titles. Working alongside a team of specialists, including computational designer Karsten Schmidt and graphic designer Michael C Place (of design studio Build), I oversaw creation of a custom typeface for the covers, echoing the work of illustrator Marian Bantjes, who contributed the project’s decorative pattern language. -
