About Darren West

I am the the Global Head of SAP’s Circular Economy solutions. My role is to expand existing and build new solutions focussed on Circular Economy. I major in topics such as “circular design”, “regenerative business” and “material passports”. I see design as an enabler to systems change. I get excited about designing out waste and creating new business models to tackle the world’s environmental problems. I get fired up to tackle the climate emergency - our approach to tackling climate change is inextricably linked to circular economy - we can't tackle climate change without it. I work with leading NGOs such as the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, the World Economic Forum, and the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the UK's RSA (I'm a Fellow) and various academic bodies and global consultancies worldwide on Circular Economy topics. I produce SAPs open training courses on Circular Economy. I’m a member of an employee network we call the “Green Team” and volunteer with SAP Forest UK. I love EVs, sustainable travel, wine, and a few hobbies. I’ve 30 years experience in a sales, marketing, business development and product management. I've a background in engineering and economics, and a Post-Grad Diploma in marketing from CIM. I lived and worked in Japan for 2 years in my early career and have a special interest in the language and culture, and some rusty language skills. I’ve worked in consumer goods, telecoms, IT and software industries. I live in the UK with my family about 40 miles from London. Connect with me if you are interested in anything circular!
