SilverRail develops technology to help rail operators and travel agencies across the world transform how they serve customers and run their businesses. Working as an Application Engineer in the Service Operations Team providing a customer service interface between external customers, partners and prospects and the internal Product/Development teams. Providing API and customer service support to SilverRail's clients and partners including Egencia, Transport For Wales, Virgin Train Ticketing, Chiltern Railways and American Express Global Business Travel.In addition to learning and supporting SilverRail's combined multi-market Rail solutions, I have developed an understanding of numerous rail operators across the UK, Europe, USA and Canada. Understanding their underlying 3rd Party API messages and regularly liaising with their respective technical teams whilst investigating and troubleshooting client issues or working with them on new implementations or system migrations.In my first few weeks at SilverRail, whilst learning about the day to day procedures and various client configuration tasks, I immediately identified opportunities for efficiency improvements and time-saving. I created tools and scripts to simplify various repetitive tasks, removing unnecessary manual data re-entry and reducing error. Throughout my time at SilverRail, I continued to add new tools and improve existing tools as further opportunities arose. Many of these tools and utilities interface with other applications and systems including MySQL, Jira, GitLab, TeamCity, Amazon OpenSearch (ElasticSearch) and SilverRail's own applications and API.

Zellis are the VAR for Reality in the USA. Reality is a Multi-Value database system with origins back as far as the 1960s. Part office / part home-based, I provided Technical Support and consultancy for Reality customers in North & South America. We had customers using Reality on Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6/7, CentOS 6/7, Solaris and AIX operating systems.As the senior, most experienced member of the Reality Support team, I was therefore also responsible for the internal technical training and mentoring of other colleagues.I also provided Technical and Application Support to customers of our in-house developed low-code Development Platform ("PROIV"). I worked on QA, Implementation and Application Support of an automotive repairs and maintenance application written in PROIV which we supply and maintain on behalf of the UK arm of a luxury car, van and truck manufacturer.Due to my wide-reaching IT skill base, especially my exposure to Linux/Unix and other related technologies, I also became the "go to" person when it comes to technical Linux and Unix questions from other colleagues in the wider Software Services Global Support team within which the Reality Support team belongs. My immediate colleagues were spread between the UK, California and Kochi, India.

Senior Developer and mentor within a team of Reality DATABASIC Developers maintain Open-Retail MultiValue application for Electrical Retailers - hosted on Reality MVDBMS running on RedHat/CentOS operating system. In addition to full development lifecycle related duties, also routinely involved in the Reality System Administration and Support - both customer facing and internal. My first project was the migration of the in-house developed ERP, B2B and B2C application "Open-Retail" from Rocket's D3 MultiValue Database to Northgate's Reality MV offering - analysing and migrating/converting over 3,000 DATA/BASIC subroutines to run identically on Reality in addition to D3.Responsible for internal training and mentoring and recruitment of new trainee Developers including training school-leavers in DATA/BASIC programming.I was also a key member of a team involved in our side of the rescue and restoration of the previously Northgate-hosted Reality Client systems that were destroyed in the Buncefield Fuel Depot disaster of December 2005 - commissioning new systems and restoring databases onto IBM xSeries servers running RedHat Enterprise Linux and Reality.During my time at Cromwell, I evolved from being 'just a Developer' to having numerous responsibilities spanning many areas of the business.

Initially employed as Analyst Programmer but promoted to Senior Analyst in just under 12 months. Developing standard and bespoke ERP Applications for Manufacturing and Printing companies throughout the UK. Developing in DATABASIC and deploying on various MV platforms including GA Pick R91, Power95, mvBase and D3.Lead Developer in a migration project of Sanderson's "PICS-P" ERP application from Power95 on AIX to D3 on Linux. Some exposure to mvBase on Windows and also UniData.Working internally but also on-site at key customer/client sites for extended periods.

My first full-time job after leaving school (A-Levels). DATA/BASIC programmer (initially Training Programmer but later promoted to Analyst Programmer) and also involved in day-to-day end user support (Hardware and Application). Developing bespoke additions to the Sanderson PICS-P ERP application including writing and implementing a customer EDI system for the ordering of paper for Cambridge University Press Printing Division.A later project involved migrating the entire ERP application from GA Pick R91 on proprietary hardware to Power95 running on AIX.
