Application Engineer
CurrentSilverRail develops technology to help rail operators and travel agencies across the world transform how they serve customers and run their businesses. Working as an Application Engineer in the Service Operations Team providing a customer service interface between external customers, partners and prospects and the internal Product/Development teams. Providing API and customer service support to SilverRail's clients and partners including Egencia, Transport For Wales, Virgin Train Ticketing, Chiltern Railways and American Express Global Business Travel.In addition to learning and supporting SilverRail's combined multi-market Rail solutions, I have developed an understanding of numerous rail operators across the UK, Europe, USA and Canada. Understanding their underlying 3rd Party API messages and regularly liaising with their respective technical teams whilst investigating and troubleshooting client issues or working with them on new implementations or system migrations.In my first few weeks at SilverRail, whilst learning about the day to day procedures and various client configuration tasks, I immediately identified opportunities for efficiency improvements and time-saving. I created tools and scripts to simplify various repetitive tasks, removing unnecessary manual data re-entry and reducing error. Throughout my time at SilverRail, I continued to add new tools and improve existing tools as further opportunities arose. Many of these tools and utilities interface with other applications and systems including MySQL, Jira, GitLab, TeamCity, Amazon OpenSearch (ElasticSearch) and SilverRail's own applications and API.
