About Darrick Morrison

I'm a storyteller and solutionary at heart, and am currently completing editing of a documentary series I've filmed over the past several years, about the emergence of new, groundbreaking ecological and social-purpose platforms to support a rising tide of those I call "Solutionaries" in this world. This is a crucial time in human history, and it's time for us to stand up for the healing of our planet, and find innovative ways to scale solutions, and provide platforms that truly support those driven to serve humanity and the natural world. This is what guides me into my current chapter of life, leaping from a decade and a half in for-profit technology leadership positions.I led a team at iTel Networks to develop a distributed computing platform for automated arbitrage of computing resources across telecoms in Canada.I left Amazon after 5 years in instructional design, and program manager role, to develop an XR platform, architecting pipelines to produce photoreal 3D models for product visualization.I invented/patented several core technologies in the space (links under Prizmiq in Work history). My spirit is creative and entrepreneurial.I thrive in building innovation-empowerment culture.I've co-created exceptional teams several times in my career with magical, high-performance cultures each time. Launching an augmented reality startup in 2013, I dove deep into a range of connected technologies. I love to get hands on, and continually dive into new tools and technologies that intrigue me. The heart-centered innovation, technology and artist communities around the world are my tribe. I love nothing more than weaving innovative souls living to evolve the world, and steward humanity toward a regenerative future. I believe in corporate social responsibility, democratization and dissolution of gatekeeping, circular economy, decentralization, empowering transparency through technology, innovating and empowering endeavours that positively impact the world. Please reach out if you are called. I love connecting with others that share this priority foremost - Jedis / Avatars in business and social-purpose innovation. As ethics in technology, AI, IoT, blockchain, AR, new paradigms for financing innovation, and digital transformation in *every* field makes massive strides, and conscious living becomes mainstream, it's an exciting moment in history. I feel honored every day to be alive right now, and play a part in opening up a complete revolution in the way we experience and evolve solutions within our world. Drop a note 🕊:) Darrick

  • Itel Networks Inc.
Director, High Performance Computing (Hpc) / Ai And Render Cloud Platform
Itel Networks Inc. Feb 2018 - Dec 2019
    Kamloops, British Columbia, Ca
Innovated and developed new offering for highly affordable computing, tailored toward scalable machine-learning, and video processing, by developing a system which could leverage underutilized telecom and blockchain mining hardware infrastructure. Responsible for the general management of the cloud computing team at iTel, and the MagIQ AI partner project. In this role, I developed the tech roadmap and business plan for the cloud offering, to help expand iTel's offerings in the cloud computing space. I led prototyping, business development and partnership development of a cloud-computing infrastructure that automatically mines blockchain currencies during downtime, and live-switches to virtualized computing resources for machine learning, video processing and other computational needs (See magiq.ai). Successfully wrote and secured IRAP grant from the Canadian government to subsidize the project, developed technology roadmap and managed tech, business development and marketing team to build this specialized cloud solution. Managed iTel's GPU-computing tech team, and SMEs, leveraging Kubernetes, Open Nebula, and other devops frameworks. Goal: secure, scalable, PIPEDA compliant GPU computing infrastructure, with datacenters across Canada. Enabling on-demand AI, Machine Learning, 3D rendering, GIS, data analytics processing over our dedicated, national fibre network. Machine Learning at scale, low latency and complete security with custom private-cloud digital transmission for enterprises. What I wished I could build: A non-profit, HPC platform for providing massive, subsidized computing resources for solving major social and ecological issues. E.g. wildfire prediction systems, health diagnosis systems, systems to analyze and expose media bias, etc.Eventually: Non-profit platform for providing access to private and public sector mass-data sets, to aid in projects the are social-purpose, or ecological purpose, in order to accelerate positive change.

Prizmiq (formerly known as 3D Product Imaging) - an innovation company at the intersection of VR, AR, photogrammetry, and retail. 3D visualizations of products, and integrates 3D web, VR, and AR shopping experiences into eCommerce. This is a video from my tenure at Prizmiq: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUYlPgJmqCA&t=17sResponsible for guiding the core vision at Prizmiq, and of course wore many hats, with a team of only 10. Strategic direction, building business opportunities with our technology, connecting and weaving allyships with strategic partners, customer acquisition, fundraising, R&D, connecting the dots with brilliant entrepreneurs, technology partners and customers. Stewarding innovation culture with inspiring people. I managed a team of 11 people as CEO. Deep respect for the incredible team and all that we built.Built relationships and deals with large and small brands, such as Hololens, Walmart, Amazon, Nike, Adidas, Ralph Lauren, Arcteryx, and Adobe.I led fundraising efforts, with our COO, and 9 Mile Labs tech accelerator, and raised $900k in convertible notes to fund our efforts.I'm an inventor and love being in the depth of the technical, and wish to stay humble yet real about my gifts here: I am a tech/business oracle. Turned just three, of hundreds of inventions in my notebooks, into patents. Here are three, from my time as CEO of Prizmiq, in the space of cloud-rendered augmented reality, algorithmic spatial suggestion-engines (making meaning from an environment and suggesting relevant products), for retail in-store environments, home improvement/interior design, and for digital twinning/interaction paradigms for augmented reality product UX. It's a lot to read, but they're attached below if you're a spatial-computing nerd like me and interested :).
