I graduated with a B.S. in Education and a Minor in Athletic Coaching, from Kent State University in 2001. I began work at a Non-profit Organization as a Counselor/Teacher in a wilderness setting, serving troubled youth. Once I became a Program Director, I began training new hires and teaching various classes throughout the organization for continuing education/recertifications. I also conducted interviews, developed growth plans and completed yearly performance evaluations for employees at the program as well as developed and implemented an employee retention program. I was part of the facility’s leadership team and was actively involved in the day to day administration and execution of the organizations policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations. In addition to those responsibilities I was also involved in short- and long-term planning for the program, its staff and advisory board. I spent a short time working as an independent sales agent with Aflac where I generated new accounts, serviced existing accounts and maintained records for both. I conducted meetings with employers and customized an Aflac program to best meet the needs of the business. As I transitioned into my current position as a Juvenile Court Counselor with the State of North Carolina, I focused more on case management and linking individuals with services best suited for their needs in accordance local, state and federal laws and regulations. Communicating with local law enforcement and Court officials daily. Written and verbal documentation, developing plans for treatment and monitoring of juvenile’s and their family. Travel to numerous placements, meetings with schools, caregivers and treatment facilities were all crucial to my job duties. I have enjoyed teaching in many different environments and have taken a great deal of pride in ensuring that I have been able to provide the best experience for those I have been involved with. I have been able to develop skills as an instructor and supervisor that can easily transition to any field. It has been very important to me to provide the best possible environment for all employees through the development and implementation of growth plans, training and milieu.
