I supervise three Assistant Team Leaders, nine case managers, six recreation workers and 38 Youth Development Specialists at the Detention Center. I also consult with mental health professionals regarding case staffing. This includes M.S. level counselors as well as their supervisors whom either hold a Ph.D. or Psy. D. My duties include supervision of staff, performance appraisals, strategic planning, safety and security, policy implementation, as well as physical and mechanical restraints of youth when needed. Other duties include recreational programming and implementation of the CBT model with pre-adjudicated youth. Other modules include behavior modification, REBT approaches, and other duties as assigned include policy revision, organizational diagnosis or potential partners and prepping for governmental audits.

As a member of the board I work with the Deputy Executive Director of Resident Daily Life, the Superintendent, Celebrities, the Chief Judge's Office, the Community, and colleagues from various disciplines to provide programming, bridge programs and needed services to an underserved population: Minority Youth.

While acting in a middle management position, I co-developed a family model to reduce crime within juvenile detention by utilizing research from the University of Chicago as well as the Epstein model, and applying those principals in detention in an internal retreat format. It is called The New Genesis Project. (c) 2012.The principal goal is to provide clinical and spiritual support to families with youth in detention, as well as identifying resources for the families of the residents in their respective communities. This required an all hands on deck approach with a multidisciplinary team that included the administration, legal, upper and middle management, the entire clinical department, the kitchen, security, rapid response, volunteers and the pastoral staff. One on one sessions were offered, family sessions were offered, as well as role playing and other activities. Additional supports included parental facilitated support groups and legal guidance.This same model used in the community reduces violent crime by 44% according to university studies. The model we developed, is tailored to juvenile detention. It can be modified for adult corrections and other populations. This module has the potential to be the national model with proper implementation and post data analysis. This model facilitates healing between the youth and guardians as well as identify deficits within the family unit

As the Resident Director, I led the housing department and provided housing for a 213 bed facility with a budget of one million dollars. I supervised the housekeeping and maintenance staff, as well as one case manager, volunteers, and my personal assistant. I worked on capital projects as well as some fundraising, and provided affordable housing and facilitated evictions when necessary. I led capital projects, developed and trained staff as well as sat on the executive team for departmental meetings which included operations, budget issues, fundraising and human services referrals.
