My responsibilities as a DNV VQSC Surveyor was to monitor, witness, review documents, stamp and sign off on Cameron’s welding processes, equipment assemblies and testing procedures, NDT inspections and (SIT) System Integration Testing for Subsea BOP Stacks. During the monitoring process, ask question and stop work when written procedures, tests and inspections are not correct or not being performed correctly. If necessary write up nonconformance reports for none compliance. Cameron’s equipment acceptance criteria is based on meeting DNV rules for certification by DNV OS-E101 Offshore Drilling Plant Standard and Cameron procedures. Some of the rules, specifications, standards and procedures we reference was DNV OS-E101, API 16A, 16C, 6A and Etc., ASTM E-709, ASTM E-165 and Etc., AWS, NACE, Cameron procedures and many more. I witnessed, monitored and performed (SIT) System Integration Testing for Cameron subsea BOP well control stacks. Some of the BOP subsea well control stacks DNV and I monitored and sign off on was; Songa Cat D 3 and Cat D 4 Subsea BOP Stack, Transocean 3508 Spare and Main Subsea BOP Stack, Transocean 3509 Spare and Main Subsea BOP Stack, Marinor 2097 Stena Clyde Subsea BOP Stack, Seadrill West Mira Subsea BOP Stack, Fred Olsen Subsea BOP Stack. Myself, with the BOP stack customers, contractors and Cameron SIT lead system tester would perform one hundred to two hundred system function and pressure tests for acceptance and signing off on the BOP stacks.

My job responsibilities are to inspect (BOP’s) blowout preventer and it parts with wet and dry magnetic particle inspection (ferromagnetic materials), liquid Penetrant (none ferromagnetic materials), Visual inspection of forgings, casting and machined parts, Rockwell C Hardness (HRC and Bernell Hardness (HB) testing various types and grades of materials, dimensional measurement of critical parts and equipment for BOP assembly. I inspect 7 1/16”, 11”, 13 5/8”, 16 ¾”, 18 ¾” and 21” BOP bodies, Bonnets, Intermediates, Ram change Pistons, Operating Pistons, Ram change Rods, Shearing Ram, Pipe Rams and Blind Rams, Bonnet bolts, Ram change Cylinders, Operating Cylinders, Tandem booster Cylinders, upper and lower Housing, locking Housing and Etc. The standards that we use for magnetic particle examination are API 6A and API 16 A-Latest Edition, ASME E 709, ASME E 1444, ASME Section IX, VIII, and V, ASNT-TC-1A, DNV, ABS and Etc. The Standards that we use for liquid Penetrant examination are API 6A and API 16a-Third Edition, ASTM E 433, ASTM E 1135, ASTM E (1210, 1208, 1219, 1209, 165, 1220, 1418, 1417, 1418, 1316,), ASME Sections Ix, VIII, and V. The Standards used for hardness testing are ASTM E 10, ASTM E 18, ASTE E 140 and 1406-Latest Edition, API Specification 6A, 16A, and 14D-Latest Edition.

I was president and owner of Dalco Inspection; I have successfully managed and marketed Dalco none destructive testing/inspection and environmental rig inspection to the Oilfield, Petroleum Industry, Federal Government, Department of Defense. Dalco was a Small Business Administration 8 (a) Contractor from 1991 until 1999. Our customers and I work close together to plan and develop inspection and contract procedures that fit their scope of work. We have utilized our successful pass contract experience to keep a competitive edge over our competitors. I’m Dalco Inspection assign Level III inspector in MT, PT, VT and UT inspection. I am a Certified AWS Associate Welding Inspector. My responsibilities are to manage Dalco’s budget, field operations, personnel and marketing. I write inspection procedures and assist with training personnel. I teach inspectors level I and level II nondestructive and inspection methods. All training and testing procedures comply with (A.S.N.T.) American Society for Nondestructive testing, (A.S.M.E.) American Society for Material Evaluation, (A.W.S.) American Welding Society, MIL-STD-410A and SNT-TC-1A standards. We inspected drill stem components, drill pipes, drill collars, wash pipes, vessel parts and various types of subs. We use magnetic particle wet and dry method, liquid Penetrant method, ultrasonic thickness and flaw detection method, fiber optic inspection and dimensional inspection. All inspections were in accordance with API 6A, 5a5 6th Ed. Spec 7 39th Ed. RP 5A5, Spec 7, 16 A, 5 CT. After field training for six month, I attended Drilco NDT 40 hour inspection school. We studied magnetic particle wet and dry, electrometric inspection, visual inspection, welding inspection, liquid penetrant inspection, and oilfield rig and drilling procedures. We were tested after the 40 hour training period and I successfully passed the NDT class. I received my level II certification. I was transferred and assigned to Houma, Louisiana to be the lead inspector. I inspected drill pipes with electromagnetic inspection, drill collars, heavy weight drill pipes, various types of subs, and welds with welding inspection, magnetic particle, visual inspection, liquid penetrant on none ferrous materials.
