I continue to be involved with the development practice at Brightside, though I recently led a transition in our process, incorporating aspects of the Shape Up process to shape and pitch work that will eventually be evaluated for including in an upcoming program increment (PI). This transition was instrumental in allowing the development teams to focus on the work at hand while giving breathing room to product managers to focus on product strategy. We currently have two streams of work happening in parallel, development of the current program increment and shaping work for the next program increment. I've been heavily involved in the shaping stream. I work with a cross functional team from design, marketing, product, risk, etc. to scope and define the rough solution for product enhancements. While the product team was figuring out what to build, I was initially working with the platform vendor to understand the platform capabilities. Initial sprints were spent architecting and developing the foundational components on which we would scale our delivery teams and ultimately launch the application. Our organization was new to agile methodologies and Scrum, so there was a lot of growing pains in the early days as we built not only the product, but also the development processes. I took a leadership role in establishing practices and processes in addition to the foundational application code. In February, 2019, our first production account was created and Brightside was officially "born". We successfully launch a brand new digital challenger bank designed to help Albertan's build better saving and spending habits. Being able to take a product from concept to launch (and now beyond) has been an incredible experience full of challenges, learnings and excitement. There's never a dull moment! Show less

SAP Payment Engine is the system responsible for processing all payments transferring between ATB and other external systems. SAP Payment Engine is a high-throughput system that can be configured to process any number of payment types, such as EFTs, wire transfers, cheque clearing, bill payments, and international international remittances (to name a few). SAP Payment Engine is the system responsible for processing all payments transferring between ATB and other external systems. SAP Payment Engine is a high-throughput system that can be configured to process any number of payment types, such as EFTs, wire transfers, cheque clearing, bill payments, and international international remittances (to name a few). Our team was primarily responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of daily payment processing, which required an deep understanding of the complex nature of the different payment types and how each flows through the system via an assortment of processes and batch jobs. This included providing 24x7 on call support in order to ensure that critical KPI's were hit during end of day processing.Additionally, our team had many projects where we would work with other technical and business teams to design and develop processes for new payment types. For example, I led the design and development of the Global Transfers payment process that allows customers to send international remittances via a self-service mechanism for low cost. Show less
