After a very successful sale at LegitScript, I took some time off.

I was hired by PSG (Providence Strategic Growth) as LegitScripts’ VP Engineering in June 2020 to overhaul Engineering, DevOps and Operations to drive their strategic investment which included a sizable investment in ML / MLOps. In addition to achieving that goal in 8 months, I also established a world class security program from scratch enabling SOC 2 & ISO 27001 certifications.

Janrain, a global cloud based CIAM SaaS platform protecting 1.5 billion customer identities on behalf of enterprise level clients such as Shell, MasterCard, McDonald's, Coke, Phillips, Rogers, Johnson & Johnson, Qantas, Michelin and Merck among many others. Responsible for eight discrete business functions headed by a Managing Director (European Operations) or Directors of: Architecture, SW Development & QA, Dev Ops & IT Operations, Technical Support, Professional Services (Consultants/Delivery/Project Management), Strategic Advisory Services (Solutions Architects), and Customer Success Management. Hired by HighBar to take the Janrain engineering department to the next level, I matured the engineering organization by instituting robust processes and procedures and measured the resulting operational and engineering improvements with strict KPI Metrics. Platform uptime achieved 99.992% under my watch. In addition to corralling escalating AWS cloud costs for high availability services in 7 AWS regions, I guided Janrain in developing cloud offerings in China and Russia. I drove my SW Development and QA teams to implement Agile Scrum, established the Architecture discipline and built an engineering extension team in Mexico. During my tenure, Janrain’s cloud operations obtained HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27018 and CSA compliance.I have global P&L responsibility for the entire Janrain established client base along with responsibility for driving DRR (dollar retention rate) growth. I carry quota for my Global Services responsibilities. I also am instrumental in closing key sales opportunities. An integral member of the Janrain executive team, I perform engineering and operations due diligence for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Activities. Because of my extensive security experience, I am not only an executive member of the Information Security Management Committee but also play a key role on the technical Infosec Team.

I managed all global IT operations, Corporate Information Services and Information Security for an international payments company. Responsible for SSAE 16, KPMG and PCI DSS level 1 v3.0 compliance supporting multi-currency payment processing across multiple channels: IVR, Web, SMS, mobile apps and wallet integrations, numerous public API’s and global call centers.Built a global ITIL / ITSM practice to meet client availability requirements at four nines (99.99%)

As the VP of QA and Product I created and led the Software Quality Assurance team, Project Management and Software Delivery Services. I was responsible for quality assurance teams based in Oregon, Georgia, Ireland, India and Mexico providing follow the sun software QA services to global telecom clients.

Hired to start and introduce a formal Software QA methodology; grew the team to more than 30 staff around the globe.

Volunteer position with the TAO with a mission to produce periodic programs, events and presentations for the Oregon SW QA community. The TAO QA Forum provides the SW QA community with information on SW quality processes, methods, measurements and management techniques / insights from global achievers in the QA field. In this role I organized several conferences and spoke on Mobile Application development and test strategies.

Hired to create and staff the software compatibility Lab for PolyServe, a company building highly available clustered file systems for Linux (SuSE & RedHat) and Windows (2K & 2K3) on Storage Area Networks (SANs). Development of scripts to validate product compatibility within the ecosystem of: Linux Kernels, Win OS’s, HBA’s, Fibre channel switches, storage arrays, 3rd party MPIO solutions, and user level applications.

Telecom startup creating software to unify control over resources and services across multiple Layer 1 SONET products. In true startup fashion I wore many hats: SW QA lead, release management, requirements validation, Sales, Sales Engineering, customer support & training. As part of test deliverables, worked daily with TL1 & EMS interfaces for the following Network Elements (in-house lab): Cisco 15454, CEINA 7000 DWDM, NORTEL DX, CEINA CoreDirector, CEINA K2. While supporting field trials at various carriers, showcased the INCP product on the FLM150, FLM600, FLM2400, FlashWave 4500-7200-7600 and the Titan 5500 & NGX Network Elements. Extensive test automation activities with the INCP TL1 interface using TCL/Expect.

Oresis was a Telecom startup that built a multi-service edge switch (ISIS-700) for converged Data / Voice public networks. Manager responsible for system verification of Oresis’ next-generation switching platform (ISIS-700) leading a team of 12 QA Engineers. Filled the role of Sales Engineer traveling to potential customer sites showcasing Oresis’ product offering. Tested switched Voice and Data protocols. Examples: the ATM Services layer (CBR, nrtVBR, rtVBR, UBR) using PVC’s and SPVC’s with PNNI signaling. Tested numerous variations of UDT, SDT, CAS & SRTS connections and Frame Relay services (FRF8.1, .5 & HDLC). Responsible for the successful ISO 9000 compliance audit of the Verification team.

Responsible for QA of all Preside Network Management software supporting various layer 1 SONET products, BAY routers, CISCO and multi-vendor ATM switches. Responsible for the development of automated test scripts that exercise CORBA based open interfaces for fault, resource and performance management data retrieval using TCL/TK and PERL. Project Manager for the identification, procurement and installation of test platforms. For example the introduction of 110 Unix HP/SUN W/S (B1000/C3000/J5000/K580 and SUN Ultra 10/E3500), an OC192 DWDM 3 Node Ring, a 5 Node Express HX Ring, etc. Sales Engineering responsibilities aiding local and international sales and marketing teams by showcasing Nortel’s Preside product portfolio.

Responsible for 24/7 Hardware/Software Voice Lab support for product certification of Nortel’s Digital Multiplex System (DMS) product suite. Project Manager ensuring all new Lab equipment was properly supported including the DMS Succession Networks prototype, XA-Core prototype and the Wireless DMS division.

Captain with 85 subordinates responsible for the maintenance of all DND owned telecommunications assets in the Canadian National Capital Region. Maintained data and Voice circuits including associated DND owned Newbridge Muxes for strategic communications of in-theatre combat operations. Communications Security Custodian (COMSEC) responsible for management of all top secret (U.S and Canadian) cryptographic material in the NCR. Top Secret SA/CAT III Security Clearances (CAN & US)
