My first time working in fintech - Wealth Wizards stood out for their mission to provide financial advice to those who may be able to pay for financial advisors.Worked on producing theme-able multi-tenant web applications (~8 approximately) intended for several blue chip financial clients.The frontend 'information setter' apps were micro frontends generated using the NX framework, and stitched together with an over arching routing layer living in AWS where all the services formed part of a coherent customer journey.Also contributed to shared libraries between apps using npm workspaces, these libraries would be shared logic needed code to return complex calculations such as tax relief or other income proportion percentages.Unit tests were written in react testing library and whole journeys tested with Cypress to automate testing user journeys and find bugs that may appear in-between creating new features.

Developed re-usable component widgets using Contentful CMS, Java backend to process content data, and a React application to render components (Typescript, React and Next.js). Freeing up content teams to create entire pages that feel bespoke to the customer, without needing a developer managed code release.Implemented Algolia search features to enable fast search results for the front end, and enable trade teams to maintain hirearchy and rulesets easily without an expensive in- house search solution. Built search banner components using Algolia tools to provide context specific links or useful information to customers when search results are empty or contain certain keywords.Improved customer promotional code application flow by working with trade teams and promo code systems in Emarsys to automatically apply voucher codes when landing on the homepage from customer emails, significantly reducing customer friction.Supported an existing event driven AWS solution to pump content changes from Contentful CMS to Algolia Search APIs to provide up-to-date search results for customers when product or content data is created, deleted or amended.Implemented a customer journey heat-map viewer to discover common user journeys and provide insights to optimise content and layout of components. Consequently 40% of homepage content that wasn’t viewed by customers was removed, saving considerable time for content teams.

Developed improvements to the marketplace platform using Typescript, React andNext.js to build server side rendered pages on product and search pages using Algolia.Improved rendering performance by ~2.5 seconds (first meaningful paint metric) to reduce bounce rate, by auditing HTML markup, font optimisations, lazy loading and reviewing cache headers.Ran workshops on customer psychology and improving user experience, and provided a detailed analysis of security and performance improvements.

Developed responsive single page apps for product listing, site furniture and checkout pages using React and Redux to create a seamless user experience without reloading.Released a new SPA listing page and currently seeing an increase of ~3% revenue globally. In addition to a ~40% increase in click through to the product details app.Worked together with designers to implement a design token system across multiple dev teams using CSS variables. This enabled teams to use standardised: colours, sizes, dimensions, and media query specifications.Improved client-side rendering performance with minifying code, font optimisations, auditing HTML, preloading assets, lazy loading and reviewing cache headers.Managed scaling rules and deploying micro-service apps to a CICD pipeline using docker, Jenkins and elastic beanstalk in AWS. Practical experience of using GKE Kubernetes dashboard.Mentored graduates and interns in team, led a web development workshop for new graduates every year, and following their progress and supporting them on an ad-hoc basis. Built a Citymapper style mobile web application and route builder with an emphasis on client side processing to minimise server load. Technologies used include: HTML5, CSS3, PHP, jQuery, Google Maps, GPS and JSON technologies.

During my time at Peer 1 Hosting, I played a critical role being on the front line of customer related server outages, looking after more than 13,000 customers from 19 data centres across the globe. Speed of resolution and communications were key to this role. I would often take the role of troubleshooting issues and carefully resolving them myself, as a result, becoming proficient in solving common problems related to Red Hat Linux servers and Windows Server 2003 - 2012.

A MySQL database and web development project to overhaul an inefficient design.
