Completions And Well Interventions Engineering Team LeadShell Oil Company Aug 2011 - Jan 2014London, England, GbI was the C&WI Engineering Team Lead for Shell's "Arrowhead" project in Anthony, Kansas. I supervised five engineers and multiple field staff who designed and executed hydraulically fractured completions. -
Senior Production TechnologistBrunei Shell Petroleum Company Aug 2004 - Oct 2011Worked as the Senior Production Technologist (PT) for the Champion Water flood Project. I was responsible for preparing the well completion and well operations section in the Basis for Design (BFD). I also focused on Smart Well Design, Zonal Control, and Artificial Lift Technology Trials focused on novel ways of deploying ESPs. Before this I was the Project Leader for the Champion SE Water Injection Project with a budget of over B$270MM. This project consisted of drilling 4 producing wells utilizing open hole horizontal gravel packs, 9 water injection wells utilizing smart well technology for zonal control, expandable sand screens (ESS), and multiple sub-sea pipelines. Prior to the Project Leader role, I was a PT in the East Production System Optimization (PSO) group specializing in Gas lift Design and Optimization for the Champion Field, which currently produces approximately 120,000 BOPD. I was the well owner for 100+ wells some of which are smart wells. I also played an active role in other assets by providing Artificial Lift support in the areas of Rod Pumps, ESPs, and PCPs. I was responsible for opening up long term closed in wells, bean-ups, and mentoring young gas lift engineers.

Subsea Production TechnologistShell International Exploration And Producing Inc Sep 2002 - Jul 2004I was part of integrated projects team responsible for sub-sea completions. I was seconded to Chevron for the purpose of representing Shell's interest on the Tahiti project. For this project, I was responsible for tubular and connection design for a 15K psi sub-sea well test. This consisted of reviewing connection and tubular FEA analyses, material selection, and connection qualification testing. I designed the Vacuum Insulted Tubing (VIT), which was used to protect the well from possible casing collapse caused by trapped annular pressures.

Senior Operations EngineerPetrolera Ameriven (Chevrontexaco) May 2000 - Aug 2002Designed, implemented, and optimized artificial lift systems for the Hamaca field in Eastern Venezuela. This is a heavy oil field (13 API) completed with extended reach horizontal and multi lateral wells. In this role I initiated the development and implementation of the world's largest PCP system. Championed the production optimization and automated control system for the Hamaca field. This field now produces over 190,000 BOPD. Responsibilities included well clean up, start up, and remote optimization and control of the Progressive Cavity Pumping systems used in this project.

Research TechnologistTexaco Upstream Technology Department Mar 1999 - May 2000Provided technical support to foreign and domestic Texaco operating units on artificial lift design and analysis for vertical and horizontal wells, Smart Wells technology, production optimization and water conformance. Areas of expertise include artificial lift design and operation for Progressive Cavity Pumps, ESPCPs, ESPs, and Rod Pumps. Other areas of expertise include Down hole Oil/Water Separation and Reverse Coning Design using Smart Wells Completions. In this position, I was the coordinator of all artificial lift technology projects for the Texaco Upstream Technology EOP group. This currently includes the reliability testing of PCPs for thermal and sandy conditions at the Humble Test Facility. I am also leading several Texaco projects on Down hole Processing.
-
Senior Production EngineerTexaco North Sea Apr 1998 - Mar 1999Responsible for the production and injection optimization for a North Sea Waterflood consisting of 10 horizontal producers lifted by large ESP's and pressure supported by 4 horizontal water injectors. Total production from the field is 60,000 BOPD. Other responsibilities included the management and control of an ESP Incentivised Contract with Centrilift, ESP design, failure prediction and analysis, wellwork remediation and design support, PLT supervision and interpretation. Gained experience in sand failure analysis by investigating several failed gravel packs, pre-packed screens, and other sand handling devices.Worked with Technology department to design and install the World's Longest Open Hole Gravel Pack. We successfully packed over 4100' of pay. This lead to several more record gravel packs in the Captain field.

Research EngineerTexaco E&P Technology Department Dec 1996 - Apr 1998Provided technical support to foreign and domestic Texaco operating units on water conformance, sand control, production optimization, and artificial lift design and analysis for vertical and horizontal wells. Areas of expertise include Reverse Coning Design and Downhole Separation of Oil, Water and sand. I coordinated and lead multiple studies on sand control methods and sand management strategies. These studies and experiments involved testing multiple Artificial lift systems for sand handing capabilities, hydrocyclones for separating sand, oil, and water at surface and down hole. Also carried out projects in Canada for cavity completions to increase oil rate. This test involved drilling a well that produced 60% by volume sand and processing the sand at surface into road mix.I was involved in developing water shut-off strategies for all of Texaco's domestic operations
