Innovations ManagerPittards Plc Jan 1999 - Jan 2002Promoted to Innovations Manager, leading a team of three people investigating more radical ideas that could be relevant to applications in gloving leathers. New leather technologies engineered and robustly moved into production include: a new anti-microbial technology, further enhanced abrasion resistance, newly patented dry lubricant technology, a new high colourfast black dyeing method, an extremely novel dye affinity process and the sourcing of numerous chemicals for other research & development projects. These developments have attributed over 30% on last year's turnover. This position also requires attendance of Group Technical meetings to comment on and, if necessary, transfer new technologies within other sectors of the Pittard Group. Liaising with chemical suppliers and meeting/presenting to major glove account customers about new product developments is also a key requirement. In addition this role has allowed the conception of a global contacts network, allowed experience to be gained in IPR topics and necessitated in becoming a master of searching the Internet and technical databases of Universities worldwide. Furthermore, I was responsible for five new patents regarding very new technologies for leathers in the sports and military sectors.

Sports Glove TechnologistPittards Plc Jul 1993 - Dec 1998Providing technical support for the manufacture of all the sports leathers produced, which required liaising with senior management, directors and both national & international customers. In addition invaluable production experience was gained. During this time I also developed a new sports process for fault disguisal, a new dyeing method to give extremely high colour fastness, gained colour matching experience, was involved in the T.Q. initiative and participated in numerous projects ranging from a new white tannage to improved production finishing routes. During 1995 began tutoring the internal City & Guilds Operatives Course with very successful results.
