• Sourcing news stories, often from council reports and meetings, but also off-diary stories from tip-offs and personal research such as FOI requests.
• Commissioning and editing contributions from others.
• Promoting the sites’ work on social media, the local area and the wider industry.
• Advocating for change in the local news sector, which is heavily skewed towards major companies which continue to fail communities in London.I work with other community news outlets in London and across the UK.

• Various roles rising to senior journalist on the entertainment section in 2000 - regularlyattracting at least two million unique users each day. I took voluntary redundancy in 2009. My responsibilities included:
• Duty-editing the entertainment section - deciding the day's stories, copytasting, leading a team of journalists on a day-to-day basis, commissioning from staff and freelancers.
• Sub-editing stories from our own reporters and BBC correspondents.
• Taking charge of breaking news stories and special event coverage.
• Making sure stories worked for platforms including Ceefax and digital text.
