I am a Senior Associate in the Public Law and Health Projects team of DAC Beachcroft LLP, based in our London office. I specialise in advising on public law issues and defending legal challenges, but with particular focus and expertise in advising on all aspects of information law, including data protection, confidentiality, compliance with the Freedom of Information Act and the Re-Use of Public Sector Information Regulations. My recent experience includes leading on a programme of GDPR compliance work for a large private healthcare provider and advising regulators on a broad range of issues, including their information sharing arrangements with other public bodies. I regularly advise on complex information sharing arrangements between primary, secondary and mental health care providers across London, and also defend public and private bodies against claims for alleged data breaches. I am also a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe.

I am an Associate in our Casualty and Healthcare Department at Clyde & Co, advising on a wide range of issues affecting NHS Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups, insurers and individual healthcare practitioners. This work includes:- Providing advice, support and advocacy at Inquests;- Data Protection, Freedom of Information and confidentiality;- Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act issues;- Court of Protection applications;- Statutory appeals against decisions by regulators;- Regulatory proceedings by, but not limited to, the GMC, GDC, GPhC and GOC;- Judicial review; and- Clinical negligence claims.

I am a solicitor in our contentious healthcare team, and advise on all aspects of contentious health related issues for our NHS clients. My clients include large NHS trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and NHS England who all face complex and fascinating issues, and I work with them to provide advice and advocacy support as required.Much of my work often involves:- inquests; - capacity and consent; - Mental Health Act issues and tribunals; - freedom of information, data protection and confidentiality; - FHSAU dispute resolution;- patient related litigation, including Court of Protection applications; and- list management.I also spend at least one day of my working week seconded in-house to one of our major health clients, where I act as in-house legal support dealing with any of the wide issues which may arise. For instance, I was recently able to assist in the successful appeal of an emergency judicial review application which avoided our client having to instigate what it considered to be an unacceptably risky course of action. I helped to prepare all of the relevant paperwork and take witness statements from the relevant individuals, which was all turned around in less than 24 hours. The client was extremely happy with the outcome, and the value I and the rest of the M&R team were able to add.

I completed a broad range of seats during my training, including Construction, Healthcare, Real Estate, Commercial and two seats in Employment. The variety of skills and work involved in each of these areas have given me an excellent foundation to progress my career as a lawyer.I completed a wide range of work types, and was given a lot of responsibility. For example, during my Employment seats I worked with solicitors to defend tribunal claims and assisted with all aspects of such claims, including drafting grounds of resistance, preparing witness statements and supporting counsel at hearings. I was also expected to be able to prepare advice on non-contentious issues such as employment policies and the contract of employment.

I was responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the work conducted by a longstanding, important client who assisted with large scale planning applications. The outcome of this work would then inform the client's approach as the process continued so their work would have maximum impact and achieve an outcome which would benefit all parties when the plans come to fruition.My responsibilities included:- client liaison and conducting monthly catch ups;- conducting in depth interviews with key personnel involved with the planning application (including planning authorities and private developers);- understanding and managing the information collected; and- producing a monthly in depth report to explain to the client where they had added value to the process and where they could improve in order to add even more value.
