DECCAN CHRONICLEDeccan Chronicle is the third largest english daily in the country. The group publishes Deccan Chronicle out of 10 centers, Asian Age across 4 locations, Financial Chronicle across 5 locations & Andhra Bhoomi in AP. It sells over 1.5 Million copies every day.As Chief Operating Officer my job was to oversee the 75 year old institution into the next phase of growth, especially in the internet & mobile age. The rush of start ups while launching new editions along with delicate steering of large behemoth is one of the best experiences ever.My achievement include launching new editions of coimbatore, kochi and Trivandrum. My greatest achievement however was to conceive and create india's first youth paper along with Cafe Coffee Day - the Cafe Chronicle. I thought of the "Cafe Chronicle" in 2009 and took my two years to convince the management to get it off the ground. Drop by to any Cafe Coffee Day to check it out.

Deccan Chargers was the former Hyderabad Franchise in the multi billion dollar IPL (Indian Premier League). My association with the team began while I was still at Group M. We were the consultants who helped the DCHL group bag the Hyderabad Franchise. My role included in preparing the bid, choosing the players for the first years squad and getting the sponsorship for the first year.In the second edition I joined the team as a full time employee in the capacity of Vice President Commercial Operations but once the CEO Tim Wright quit in few months I took over the reins of the Team. Key Achievements included creating new brand. We where the first IPL team with brand guidelines, Our new blue uniform was loved by all. I coined the term "GO CHARGERS" . I got involved in team strategy, organized team building training sessions. The pre-season hard work put in South Africa and India bore fruit of being crowned champions in season 2.It was a one of its kind experience. From Team building to sponsorships, From Design and merchandising to organizing training schedules. The last minute shift to South AFrica meant new training grounds, new local marketing and sponsorship strategy. New merchandising programs and new revenue models. In the end we came up trumps.

I was heading the sports division of Group M . The role covered all five agencies of Group (Mindshare, Maxus, Mediacom, Mec & Motivator). I increased the business by over 500% from the previous year.My achievements include the launch of Virgin Mobile in India and creating India's first live movie in association with channel [V]. I also created India's first hole in one for visitors in a major EPGA tournament for XEROX. As a part of XEROX's global rebranding exercise I managed a sponsorship deal with the Jhonnie Walker Classic Tour. I provided end to end solutions including sponsorship negotiations, sponsorship management, activated the association and also measured the impact for the client.This apart was involved as a team with the IPL and other key cricket activations for our clients.

Crossover Sports Private Limited is better known for its two marathons. We created India's second and Bangalore's first ever International Marathon in 2005. The Lipton Bangalore International marathon was the platform for Lipton to launch Ice Tea in India. With over 30,000 runners from all over the world it was a huge success.We quickly followed it up by creating the world's first ever 'MIDNIGHT MARATHON'. Run at the stroke of 12 at night we created history of sorts. It still runs under the banner of Rotary Bangalore who still carries the torch forward.We also created the Photography & Cocktail Festivals in Bangalore. We created over 500 events in a shot span of 3 years.Our client list included Infosys, ANZ Grindlays, Hindustan Unilever, General Motors, Club Mahindra, AOL, Times Of India, Times Now, Nokia, Kingfisher, Airtel, Ascendas, Satyam and many more clients.

Channel Coorg was our attempt at exploring the genre of "micro community content platforms". It was quite ahead of its times like a lot of my ventures but nevertheless a huge learning experience.We ran a local language cable channel with daily news live twice a day in the morning & night. With fillers of local news, events and sports content.This was content targeted at the small but upwardly mobile population of Coorg (Kodagu) in Karnataka India.

Though I started off as a consultant for 3 days ended up working 24/7 . I opened offices across the country. Hired the team for sales and marketing across India. Actively trained and guided the team toward better practices in Sponsorships and Endorsement businesses.Key achievements included getting the first title sponsor for any WTA tennis tournament in India by getting ING VYSYA BANK to sponsor the Hyderabad ING Vysya Open. Which was also Sania Mirza's first WTA victory.

Revloutionized the English channels of the Zee Network. Worked closely with programing and aided in acquiring hit shows like Will & Grace, Mind of the Married Man etc. Increased revenues from 60Lacs a year to 6 crores a quarter.Successfully launched Trendz fashion network and aided the group to compete in the english entertainment and movie market.

Was part of the young dynamic team that attempted to create a new media company through the confluence of technology (telecom and visual media)
