I was the Senior-Supplier Quality Analyst (SQA). My primary job responsibility was that of a supplier quality representative for the Tonawanda engine plant, functioning as liaison between General Motors Powertrain’s Engineering, Purchasing, Supplier Quality disciplines and the suppliers of the components purchased for the engine assembly process. The goal of this job responsibility was to ensure the overall quality of all purchased components used in our engine assemblies. My task was to maintain & improve the lines of communication associated with quality between the engine assembly business team members, internally, as well as seeking the involvement in problem solving from suppliers’ when a quality concerns arose with their product. Additional responsibilities included ensuring Tonawanda engine plant’s compliance of the Quality System Requirements, IS0-9001 standard items, associated with supplier quality. These requirements included: production part approval process (PPAP), corrective and prevention actions, the control of non-conformance product and ensuring proper part tagging procedures to mention a few.

I was the supervisor of Labor Relations, which was staffed with both management and union elected employees. My primary job responsibilities included the administering of UAW/GM’s National and Local agreements, negotiating competitive agreements between local UAW/Management leadership, overseeing the process of both internal / external employee job placement opportunities / issues, a lead role with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) including recovery treatment options / last chance reinstatement agreements’ and the grievance / discipline process including the termination of employment. I participated in four (4) Local Negotiations and one (1) National Negotiation between the UAW/GM. During three of the four Local Negotiations, I served as a subject matter expert and co-management leader at the negotiation table. I took a lead role in overseeing both the development and implementation of lean work practices for both the salary and hourly workforce throughout our engine facility, as well as managed a cohesive and efficient work environment in the Labor Relation environment. I have a proven track record of developing and maintaining a positive partnership between union and management

Led the coordination/planning of the 1999 GMNA Labor Relations conference in Detroit, Michigan, attended by GM’s Senior, Divisional and Plant site leadership teams. Participated in the 1999 GM-UAW National Negotiation; functioning as a Subject Matter expert assigned to several sub-committees, including outsourcing committee, grievance and discipline committee and employee assistance program (EAP). Prepared and disseminated data from GMNA Division/Plant Sites via tracking charts & graphs, facilitating review by Corporate Labor Staff regarding the status of each local’s negotiation process.

I was the Sr. Labor Relations-Generalist, assigned to a designated manufacturing team. My primary responsibility was to delivery human resources programs and services to the manufacturing team. I served as a business partner for this team, supporting the Tonawanda Engine’s strategic business initiatives and plans. I participated in employee relations processes for the team, in compliance with the General Motors corporate HR policies as well as adhering to the labor agreement(s). I provided consultation to managers on issues regarding policy interpretation, workforce re-engineering initiatives, labor relations strategies and coordinated grievance responses with the managers. I was responsible for developing/maintaining a positive union-management relationship, administering applicable local and National agreement policies and resolving routine labor issues. I exercised sound judgment based on professional knowledge of the agreements and past practice policies, as well as assumed responsibility with full accountability for consequences and decisions having broad based impact on the organization and/or its individuals.
