Douglas has a strong knowledge in working with vulnerable adolescence and adult populations that has been impacted by community trauma. He aims to advocate and engage in practice-driven research to address critical areas of society that continue to cripple communities from prospering. His area of interest includes adolescence and adult social issues, gang intervention and strength-based/resiliency and empowerment models of practice. In particular, Douglas focus is on risk and protective factors within communities that are impacted with vulnerable adolescence and adult populations residing in trauma-exposed communities. He has focused on advancing marginalized populations through several practice approaches addressing violence-related trauma through violence reduction, prevention and intervention strategies.While earning his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Social Justice with a minor in Africana Studies at California State University, Northridge. Douglas embraced his call for advocacy work by joining campus and community-based organizations fighting for equality and change. Douglas was awarded in 2017 an Academic Achievement Award Dean List and International Model African Union Conference participation Award from Howard University.In furthering his academia, Douglas pursed a Master’s degree in Social Work at The University of Southern California. Douglas focused his studies on re-entry and vulnerable trauma-exposed communities that experience systemic issues. Douglas invested professionalism as a social worker and public servant aim to advocate for social justice in society.
