Work as a member of a fire team that deploys hose lines for fire attack, exposure control, perform forcible entry, search and rescue, ventilation, salvage and overhaul and attend proficiency training sessions as required. Locate fires in natural cover, structures, or aircraft and isolates involved area to prevent spreading and facilitate extinguishing. Place equipment, lays hose lines, and operates apparatus such as pumpers, nozzles, fire extinguishers, and ladders. Employ standard visual hand signals. Enters and ventilates aircraft, vehicles, buildings, and like structures to removed heat, smoke and gases, rescue personnel, and extinguish fire by direct coverage methods. Makes forced entry when required using portable power saws, rams, axes, sledges and bolt cutters. Rescue personnel from structures or aircraft, using ladders, ropes and nets. Administer first aid to asphyxiation and physical injuries. Removes equipment and other items from burning structures or aircraft to a safe area. Reduced water damage by making catch basins and drain chutes. Drives motorized firefighting and rescue trucks. Controls water or foam pressure by regulating bypass valves, governors and gas throttles.

Responsible for daily inspection, testing, operation, and cleanliness of assigned vehicle. Ensures proper rules for pump operation hydraulic calculations are applied during fire pump operations. Ensures all vehicle tools and equipment are serviceable, and takes preventive maintenance measures as required to ensure tools and equipment are in top operating condition. Is responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and safe arrival of crew members. Will accomplish driver’s training for other assigned personnel as required. Will remain proficient in all vehicle pump operation modes, and hydraulic calculations. Will maintain proficiency as a firefighter and assume duties as a firefighter as required. Will enter upgrade training for Fire Officer and act as the acting Fire Lieutenant (lead Firefighter/Crew Chief). Drives motorized firefighting and rescue trucks. Controls water or foam pressure by regulating bypass valves, governors, and gas throttles. Administers emergency medical care as an emergency medical responder, follow all department SOP’s and protocols. Shall comply with all safety rules and policies; safety infraction(s) are reason for termination. Subject to mandatory over-time and emergency recall. Perform other duties and responsibilities as directed by supervisor, Incident Commander, Command Staff or Fire Chief.
