• 1 year in the British Army serving in the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment – ceremonial occasions o I started my service based in Knightsbridge, London taking part in various ceremonial occasions including Trooping the Colour in 2009. Day to day duties involved maintaining and cleaning of personal and equestrian kit, this is a long and arduous process, with many late nights in preparation for the Queens’s life guard/ Changing of the guard.o Although I enjoyed the ceremonial duties I performed, it was never my intention to stay which I made clear from day one. As soon as an opportunity to move to the armoured/combat side of the regiment became available I did everything possible to move and was successfully posted to Windsor.• 5 years in the British Army serving in the Household Cavalry Regiment – Armoured/Combato I first qualified as a driver CVRT which included both driving and maintenance of the tank. Driving was incredibly enjoyable especially in tactical scenarios where it is vital to choose the ground wisely; this inevitably involves quick thinking and improvisation under intense pressure.o I quickly completed the CVRT gunnery course and became the troop leader’s gunner. Having to react quickly in kinetic situations whilst maintaining the highest levels of tactical and situational awareness as well as communicating on the squadron radio.o Security cleared after which I was qualified as a Patrol and search awareness instructor, teaching others in my squadron.o Qualified HGV/LGV, minibus and quad bike driver.o Qualified team medic.o Heavy weapons and explosives training.o During my time in the army I spent a lot of time working away from home for long periods around the world in high pressure environments.
