The progression of my career has afforded me amazing opportunities and experiences that have not only enriched my life but also enabled me to develop a diverse set of skills. But at the heart of it all, I am a coach, teacher, team leader, and relationship builder. Whether as an actual teacher and coach, or a department Director, I pride myself in my ability to use a team approach to develop and/or accomplish goals, manage events and complete projects.My athletics career, after playing three years of college baseball, included four years of minor league baseball as a player. I then was a pitching coach at the college level and spent four years as a high school Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach. Being involved in competitive sports teaches commitment and focus but also working as a team to accomplish a common goal. These lessons have followed me throughout the rest of my career.I spent the next 22 years as a Director, Project Manager and Assistant Director in two different Parks and Recreation agencies. These roles clearly come with significant responsibility and a huge variety of job duties and areas of supervision. Creating budgets, producing events, creating programming, managing staff, purchasing, and coordinating facility development to name a few. Along with the high level responsibility that comes with those positions, I was able to work on several special projects along the way. Two that I am most proud of were the achieving initial accreditation through the National Recreation and Parks Association’s Commission for the Accreditation of Parks and Recreation Agencies, and the research, selection and implementation of an entirely new Parks and Recreation registration software.
