After Frasers Aquired Australand I stayed on in the HSE role doing further work on some of our larger residential Estates until I left after 24 years for Richard Crookes in 2017. My only regret in 24 years was not quite making the 25 year mark, it felt like it was time to move on so I did.

Started this role working on industrial buildings at Eastern Creek, Goulburn, and Erskine Park before working on a variety of large residential estates including Wariewood, Stanhope Gardens, Lidcombe Botanica Estate including work on the old heritage listed Lidcombe Hospital, Shell Harbour and Blacktown with some auditing of civil sites in between. I continued in this role until Frasers Property purchased Australand in October 2014 and I continued on from there.

I started with Australand when they purchased Walker Corp who I was working for until then. Worked as a leading hand carpenter essentially looking after my own areas of the construction process on mostly large scale residential buildings including Bondi Junction, Balmain Cove and Alexandria where I continued to be involved in safety. At the end of 2003 I was offered a career change and accepted a full time HSE role which commenced in 2004

Prior to starting with Walker Corp I already had 9 years expereince in construction starting my carpentry pre apprenticeship in 1986 and finishing my apprenticeship with Jennings constructions. I worked on a range of buildings, typically in a supervisary type of capacity from schools to harness racing tracks, an early data processing centre at Lidcombe and city office towers until late in the 80s and the recession we had to have. I filled in the next 3 to 4 years with anything I could get working for a smaller builder on residential estates and 2 seperate facade subcontractors for a year each which included Sydney Airport, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Liverpool Hospital and the Westmead medical research facility until I travelled to Queensland to get a start with Walker Corp where they were building a shopping centre at Brackenridge, a job that took me from a carpenter looking for a steady job to an experienced HSE advisor when I left for Richard Crookes 24 years later. My early days with Walker corp were spent on sites including Cronulla residential buildings and tower, where I began to take on numerous extra roles such as the occupational first aider, committee chairman and union delegate which helped to gain a lot of knowledge about safety and the construction process.
