As a transport planner I was responsible for optimising transport operations, ensuring efficient movement of goods and co-ordinating delivery schedules for one key client. I managed the logistics processes to meet the clients contract and effectively communicated with drivers, suppliers and the contractors.The main day-to-day tasks included route planning and optimisation to maximise efficiency, minimise costs and be reactive to traffic conditions. I also co-ordinated the load schedule to ensure efficient use of transportation resources and timely delivery, this also meant I had to liaise with agencies to fulfil the quota. Customer communication was clear and I developed a good working relationship with the manager from the contracted company, which helped me to address inquiries or concerns and respond quickly to their needs and procedures without disrupting the work flow. Compliance and safety was a focus in my communication with the fleet of drivers that I managed. Regulations, safety standards and company policies were provided on a regular basis to ensure that they were informed and compliant. I developed a good working relationship with the drivers and they trusted me to act as their manager to raise any issues.
