It was an honour to serve the region in this important role, leading a period of major organisational transformation.Highlights included:* Shoring up CCA’s role as the Australian Government’s preferred Natural Resource Management service provider, by meeting their requirement for improved governance.*All three tiers of government, UTAS and industry working together through a Regional Economic Development Steering Committee, created as a committee of the CCA Board and formally establishing CCA as the region’s economic development organisation.*Successfully implementing a framework for identifying, advocating and securing funding for, regionally significant projects.*Restoring Member Council confidence through overhead cost reductions, and plain English planning and reporting.*The successful bid to host the 2022 SEGRA (Sustainable Economic Growth for Regional Australia) Conference.

I was appointed to this new role as part of CCA’s desire to play a bigger role in regional economic development. Initially focussed on facilitating and supporting economically important networks throughout the region, the role went on to include management of CCA’s Regional Tourism Organisation function and other initiatives.In addition to the sheer pleasure of working with our local, world class businesses on a regular basis, highlights included our successful bid to host the Australian Regional Tourism Convention (2019) and working globally acclaimed innovation practitioners, Dr Anton Kriz and Ifor Ffowkcs-Williams.

Established by local business and community leaders in 2012, Cradle Coast Innovation is a community based organisation established to switch on innovation and enterprise in the region. Among other things, CCI provides free and low cost advice, coaching and other support to startups and existing businesses, with funding from both the Tasmanian and Australian Governments.

Change Mob provided management consulting services to industry, government and the not-for-profit sector.Clients included the Tasmanian Government and leading Australian agribusiness consultancy and former employer, TQA Australia.

The Tasmanian Honey Company is one of Tasmania's iconic food businesses, exporting to over a dozen countries. I was employed to develop and implement new strategic and marketing plans for the organisation, achieving a number of important goals.Highlights included working with TAFE and other stakeholders so that we could employ Tasmania’s first beekeeping apprentice, facilitating the formation of the Tasmanian Active Honey Group, and implementing an externally audited food safety and quality system.

As part of the dynamic team at TQA, I was given the opportunity to manage a diverse range of projects in the fields of food safety, QA and environmental management. As well as designing and delivering training programs, I was responsible for writing proposals for research and development projects funded by industry organisations and government. This involved stakeholder consultation, project design and budgeting, and then project implementation. I managed large budgets and was responsible for contracting and managing sub-contractors, including experts employed by other state governments. In my time at TQA Australia, I also looked after one of the organisation’s largest accounts at that time, that being Webster Fresh / Walnuts Australia. In this capacity I was responsible for maintaining that firm’s compliance with a range of global quality assurance and food safety certifications.
