I have been asked to speak with a number of groups and organizations across Canada on the subject of Art, Nature and the Creative Process. I work as an artist and naturalist. As an artist I use my art work to show how we are connected within the ecosystem, of which we are a part and how our everyday actions affect wilderness areas far from where we live. My medium of choice is fibre and whenever possible I use previously used materials. I spin paper into thread for weaving and have even been known to use grizzly bear scat (spring time scat with sedge) to make pooh paper. I use paint, fabric dyes, handmade paper, stitching and photography to create the imagery I use in my woven paintings.As a naturalist I have been interpreting the BC landscape with guests from around the world as a grizzly bear viewing guide in remote wilderness areas.

As a workshop facilitator I create, design and implement workshops taking into consideration the uniqueness of each group and area of interest. Art and Nature workshops have been designed for children, adults, college students and special interest students. As a skills trainer I have learned to work with each students own way of learning. Being able to teach a variety of skills (skating, sailing, navigation, seamanship, weaving, sketching, downhill skiing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, photography) has taught me to quickly assess a skill and change the teaching technique to best serve my student.

Started off as a trip of a lifetime for me, as skipper, first mate and chief cook and bottle washer, a yacht delivery of SV Merrow from Thunder Bay, Ontario at the head of Lake Superior to Summerside, Prince Edward Island. A journey of seven weeks and over 2,000 nautical miles. Many lessons learned and unforgettable encounters and that was only the beginning.
