Daryle Williams (PhD, History, Stanford University, 1995) is a Professor of History and serves as Dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (CHASS) at the University of California, Riverside. Before joining UCR, Williams was a faculty member in the Department of History at the University of Maryland, also serving as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts and Humanities (2013-21) and Associate Director of the David C. Driskell Center (2001-04). Williams is Co-Principal Investigator on Enslaved.org, a collaborative initiative in black studies and digital humanities sponsored by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the New York Life Foundation.Williams is a scholar of Latin American history, specializing in 19th- and 20-century Brazil and digital slavery studies. He has held grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Fulbright, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Humanities Fellowship Program, and the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities. Williams and his husband reside in historic downtown Riverside, CA.
