Enterprise Data ManagementWorking in the central data warehouse and business intelligence function, engaged with customers, internal technology partners and external consultants to develop and test reporting solutions. A major project was consolidation of ambulatory quality reporting systems using Informatica, MS SQL server and Microstrategy platforms. This position provided an opportunity to learn classic data warehouse methods, tools and practices, as well as some exposure and training for Big Data on the Cloudera Hadoop distribution and the SAP HANA platform.

Sutter Health System OfficeResponsible for data management, reporting, and analytics for the Sutter Medical Network of 10 medical groups and 5000 physicians. The primary focus was Ambulatory Quality and related utilization metrics.

Led analytics team in setting up new processes and statistical methodology. Mentored fellow analysts in advanced statistical concepts, subject expertise, and presentation methods. Worked with product management to define data collection methods, metric calculations, and reporting requirements for internal data products using Oracle SQL, SAS and JMP.Expanded reporting capabilities for product feature usage to guide future product development.Originally hired as a data and analytics lead, I was given an unscheduled raise and promotion after about 6 months to User Insights and Analytics Manager. After another 6 months TiVo decided to take the business a different direction after an acquisition and I accepted a severance package.

I went to work at one of Kaiser's technology leading hospitals, the first to convert completely to electronic medical records for both inpatient and outpatient. This provided a great need and opportunity to better utilize data to improve performance and outcomes.Guided the organization in making strategic data related decisions by analyzing and reporting electronic medical record and other healthcare related data. Functioned both as an improvement consultant and as a high-level SAS/SQL programmer. Improved patient safety and quality of care leveraging data from ACS MIDAS and EPIC data systems primarily for hospital inpatient settings. A major project was implementing a site-wide statistical dashboard system using Statit piMD (now part of the Xerox/MIDAS product) with automation via SAS and Teradata SQL. Enabled multiple hospital functional areas to easily see their most critical data to identify trends and impact of improvement efforts. This included ER, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Infection Control, Patient Safety, Utilization and many other areas.Earned an industry-leading, rigorous Kaiser Improvement Advisor Certification [applying Lean and Six Sigma for process improvement].

I worked a long time at Intel and consider it my foundational experience. Below are a few selected accomplishments. There is more detail in the honors and awards section of my profile.- Developed and deployed Weibull analysis methodology to address factory limitations due to poor equipment reliability. Presented to executive staff of semiconductor equipment suppliers resulting in upgraded methods & standards in the industry. Recognized as a key enabling methodology for Intel’s world class leadership in manufacturing reliability. - Developed, owned, and supported corporate wide global specification documents and policies for product qualification statistical methods with associated software tools, training and business decision flows. - Played a key role in improvement of quality of Pentium processors. Instituted improved test methods with associated statistical models, software tools and criteria resulting in > 10x improvement in Pentium quality levels.- Participated in and facilitated multiple task forces to ensure quality of Pentium II processors with test time reductions resulting in > $200 M savings for Intel, resulting in an Intel Achievement award. - Managed a team of 2 Senior software engineers and 3 Quality engineers to develop industry leading usage condition data collection capability. Deployed global surveys, supervised creation of multi-terabyte scale load balanced web services & MS SQL server databases while also serving as principal analyst for the project. Statistical analysis and modeling of the studies resulted in > $400 M benefit through a combination of capital avoidance, improved CPU product margins and accelerated volume production ramps.- 12 years on Intel University Faculty with consistently high ratings teaching statistics and quality courses including: Intro to SAS JMP, Statistics 101, Design of Experiments, Reliability Statistics, Yield and Bin Equivalency, Product Qualification Methodology.

Consultant reporting to Director of Research at the Center for Program Evaluations and Research (C-PEAR). Responsible for database management, computing and statistical evaluations of mental health program and provider effectiveness. Included both statistical comparisons of treatment groups and longitudinal studies on length of stay, recidivism, hospital utilization as well as simulation studies using general purpose simulation language engines.
