Paradox. That is the initial reaction of many when they learnt about my two areas of specialisation back in University – Psychology and Supply Chain Management. However, Psychology has always been about making sense of human behaviour and understanding about how we can drive teams forward, while Supply Chain Management pertains to the continuous improvement and implementation of processes. Marriage of the two – people and process is fundamental to the success of any organisation. Hence, connecting both disciplines has always been key to my approach in professional settings.Similarly, I have always enjoyed drawing connections between stakeholders as I believe that the best ideas emerge as a product between an array of different perspectives. As such, kickstarting, leading, and facilitating projects has always been a favourite part of my job, akin to my favoured position of a playmaker in football. My journey in the Supply Chain has taught me the importance of being hands-on with my tasks, remaining agile to adapt to the market needs, while constantly retaining the big picture when running projects. My most recent role as a Sort Operations Associate allowed me to spearhead operations at the local Distribution Centres, while overseeing a 50-member sorting team. I believe to every problem lies a solution, so long as you have the tenacity to seek the right resources.
