I teach in the Department of Graphic Communications at Clemson University within the College of Business. Drawing from my industry experience in interactive and print design, my students learn current technologies and best practices for digital and traditional media.I started in the design industry working in the ad agency environment in Nashville, TN. From doing paste-up and vectoring logos to digital illustration, my professional career began when desktop publishing was in its infancy.Upon graduating from MTSU with a BFA in Graphic Design, I founded Studio 202 and began designing and illustrating for corporations, agencies, publishers and small businesses in the Nashville market. I got to work with some big names in the music industry like Bela Fleck, ZZ Top and John Kay & Steppenwolf.As my business grew, I moved my studio to New York City and began working on larger projects for major brands and organizations. Some of these include designing digital experiences for Sony Playstation and animations for Knoll. For much of my career I’ve produced digital illustration for consumer magazines, trade publications and corporate marketing collateral. Yahoo! Internet Life, Information Week, Major League Baseball and Sports Illustrated online were a few of my clients.In 2016 I began a "Masters with the Masters" program at Marywood University in Scranton, PA and completed my MFA in 2018. I’ve learned a tremendous amount from current design experts to legends in the industry like Milton Glaser and Seymour Chwast. This was a pivotal experience that changed the way I approach design and how I teach students.Today I continue to design for businesses and help students at Clemson University develop visual problem solving skills. Students learn to think and identify design strategies before digital production. My approach to teaching blends timeless design principles with emerging technologies to achieve transformative experiences.
