Daryn Thompson has more than 35 years’ experience in consulting and utility engineering with experience in transmission and distribution system planning and design, energy markets, and asset management. The transitioning Energy System drives Daryn's experience, particularly in Smart Grid, Grid Modernization and Electric Vehicle impacts... including experience with Hydro One, IESO, Ministry of Energy Smart Grid Fund, and OEB rate filings.... I have worked in LDCs as an Engineer and a planning consultant, and I have implemented Feeder Automation, Volt/Var, Solar and Wind Farms and Energy Storage systems.A strong technical background in distribution planning including; long term master plans, asset condition assessments and reliability studies, "smart grid" systems. He has written engineering standards and operating and safety procedures for utility power systems. Significant project have included major Asset Condition Assessments, development of the Market Rules, Distribution Standards, and System Impact Assessment Studies and Connection Impact Assessment Studies in Canada and the US. Daryn is an excellent team leader, with experience in project management, quality management, “lean” systems, and field operations and safety.
