Africa Region

Across 23 post in Africa, I provided the medium-term assistance that allows posts to design and implement new strategies, review and adapt projects, share best practices, and train staff and volunteers. I collaborate across units to shape critical partnerships, community-support systems, and staff development. I was honored with Awards of Commendation in 2017 and 2018.

Antananarivo, Madagascar

I led the programming and training staff in support of nearly 170 Peace Corps Volunteers in three sectors. I routinely served as Acting Country Director during planned absences. In collaboration with the host government and partner organizations, my team met goals to improve community results, introduce new implementation strategies, advance field communications, and strengthen training outcomes. In 2016, I helped design the agency’s action learning approach for Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths. I received an Award of Commendation in the same year.

Freetown, Sierra Leone

I led the programming and training staff in support of approximately 80 Peace Corps Volunteers. For eight months, I served as Acting Country Director. I designed and implemented a collaborative change process, inclusive of all stakeholders, to expand the education project and introduce new health objectives. I guided improvements to training, community tools, and field communications. My achievements were recognized with an Award of Commendation in 2014.

Washington, Dc

I represented nine posts across the Sahel (West Africa) during my tenure. I was the lead analyst and liaison for programming, administration and safety and security activities with the objective to balance the many needs of posts and headquarters for effective work in the field. Recognized as a strong collaborator by field staff, I assisted in response to emergency incidents at posts, including program evacuation, guiding staff in the development of strategic and operating plans and field assistance strategies, as well as leading communication with key agency and public stakeholders. From October 2011 to March 2012, I served as Burkina Faso's Acting Director of Programming and Training.

Niger

Stationed in Tchadoua, Maradi, I partnered with a commune council to advance citizen participation, engage community-based organizations and youth, and to build capacity among elected officials and municipal staff. Later, as Coordinator for Gender and Development, Young Girls Scholarship and HIV/AIDS Programs, I focused on program and grant management such as the implementation of a USAID Interagency Agreement for HIV/AIDS prevention.

Roanoke, Va

As an executive member of the leadership team, I was responsible for balancing programming, fundraising, and marketing strategies and implementation. With a budget averaging $2 million, Mill Mountain Theatre produced and presented main stage events, education courses, and alternative series. My work, in collaboration with senior staff, the board of directors, and community contributors included steering major planning initiatives, nurturing relationships with government and private foundations, pioneering marketing strategies, and creating Underground Roanoke, a community engagement strategy focused on alternative theatre for diverse audiences.
