Key Performance Areas: • Legal Risk Management- Assessment of Risk for the business in all matters (disputes, agreements, advice, etc) - In house training to staff as required- Establishing and implementing appropriate procedures and processes as necessary- Balancing the tension between the strictly legal position and the PR/public perception side and commercial side of the business• Commercial Agreements- Drafting and vetting of commercial agreements for the various business units, ensuring that they adhere to all necessary legislation and minimising the risk for the business: this includes all service legal agreements, marketing agreements, events agreements, hotel leases, addendums, cessions, bank guarantees, special conditions and amendments to standard documentation and all contractual relations in respect of the business- Reviewing and alignment of standard agreements for all business units• Litigation / Dispute Resolution - Institute and defend legal action as required which includes all legal debtors, insurance related litigation, property related litigation, appeals, arbitrations and all disputes and potential disputes in respect of the business- Instructions to and management of external legal counsel as necessary• General Legal Advice- Render general advice to all business units as required- Research and issuing of legal opinions and drafting correspondence for all business units as required- Interpreting the impact on the business of new legislation and drafting of compliant documentation - Interact with Exco on a regularly basis for general legal adviceOther:- I occupy positions on the Employment Equity and Skills Development and Environmental Committee of the company

Key Performance Areas: - Drafting of legal process such as Summons, Default Judgments, Warrants of Execution, Notice of Motions, Affidavits etc. - Drafting of various legal correspondences. - Research and drafting of legal opinions. - Conducting consultations with clients and Advocates and dispensing with legal advice. - Brokering settlements for clients.- Drafting of settlement agreements. - Drafting various commercial agreements.- Attending on Court to argue applications and obtain various orders. - Monthly billing to clients to ensure that my monthly fee target was met. I was fortunate enough to be able to gain exposure in different areas of law such as Property Law, Commercial Law, Law of Succession and Matrimonial Law.
