Reporting to the President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, my work focused on reinforcing Samsung’s business and reputation as a multibillion-dollar economic powerhouse with 20,000 US-based employees and more than $30bn of US investment. While directing an internal team of 50, I ensured overall alignment of messaging across all corporate and product communications, including thought leadership, executive communications, launch events, product reviews, etc. I also worked to influence the policy agenda relating to telecommunications, tax, trade, sustainability, privacy, and cybersecurity. In 2015, I was tapped to return to Samsung’s headquarters in South Korea to lead all messaging, crisis communications, and PR efforts while providing direction to the 75-person communications community in 100+ countries around the world. In this role, I communicated directly with leading global media to deliver PR messaging and updates about Samsung. I also drove crisis communications including globally significant corporate issues and worked closely with the corporate Investor Relations team.

In 2008, I relocated to the United States to lead corporate strategy and later corporate marketing, including brand strategy, digital marketing, and market intelligence while reporting to the President and CEO for Samsung Electronics North America.While in this role, I defined the future business portfolio, identified areas for US expansion and investment, and performed contingency planning during the 2008/2009 financial crisis.

I was transferred to direct strategy for the largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world. In this role, I worked on projects including mobile content and services strategy, operator partnerships, and international market analytics. I also led the strategy to transition from 2G to 3G mobile communications with new devices and go-to-market approach. I represented the business at major investor meetings and conferences.

In 2001, I was tapped to lead the global marketing team for Samsung’s consumer electronics division as the company’s first-ever non-Korean corporate officer. During this time, I drove worldwide marketing across all consumer electronics.In this role, I had the opportunity to transform the company’s market position in consumer electronics, displacing established players and securing Samsung’s spot as the #1 market leader in the digital television market for the next 14 years.
