Classifying the Mode of a SongDelving into digital signal processing (DSP) and music information retrieval (MIR), I built and compared 13 distinct classification models to predict whether a song is in a Major key or Minor key. I trained the models on a dataset I constructed by extracting more than eight features from raw audio files (mp3) using the Python library Librosa, and increased accuracy from 51% (baseline) to 75% (optimized). Utilized Logistic Regression, KNN, SVC, Decision Tree, Random Forest, GridSearch/RandomSearch.
