Viscon is a company specialized in product and material handling systems in a wide range of sectors all around the world. Viscon is part of the Visser Group and is located in ‘s-Gravendeel, the Netherlands. I started as a graduate intern working on the development of a new machine ine. During this period I became familiar with the company and subsequently applied for a job.As of july 2012 I am an engineer at Viscon continuing my work on the new machine line, industrial washers, dryers and accessories. To commercialize these machines a deticated company was founded, Unifortes, which is a joint venture between Visser Group and Ville Machinebouw. Most of my time is spend on engineering for Unifortes, supported by my Viscon colleagues. Apart from engineering I am involved in analyzing and optimizing the CAD- and PDM tools used by the Visser Group.

An internship is the final challenge a student has to accomplish before graduating. During the internship I was a recognised employee at a company, working full time on a project. The project I worked on was developing and setting up a production line for a new machine. All aspects of the design as well as communicating with suppliers where part of the assignment.I was placed in a team with activities within the poultry. I had daily feedback with my mentor and team leader. Besides my main assignment there where a lot of other challenges that where thrown in front of me, as a way for me to demonstrate my skills.

UMTS Project Partners is a company specialised in developing GPS measurement tools. I was involved in designing new enclosures or other parts for GPS measurement equipment and electronic modules. Besides designing new parts I was involved in updating current designs for a more efficient fabrication process, or new functions. All parts are provided with engineering drawings by which they are manufactured by a third party.

Inova Revalidatietechniek manufactures accessories for wheelchairs with 5 employees in its service. I have been working part-time for Inova Revalidatietechniek since 2005, and been able to combine it with my study.I was involved in the following processes: designing and optimizing of new accessories, optimizing of fabrication methods thereof, and designing and building fabrication tools.I have acquired working experience with the following machines and tools: lathes, mills, laser cutting machine, robotic welding machine, piercing tools, die cutters, drills, saws, welding tools(MiG/Mag and TiG).I was administrator of the CAD/CAM design computers and the network linking them, as well as providing a computer helpdesk function. I improved the speed of design, production and packing by introducing new designs and special tools.
